Beebop's Jungle Adventures - the campaign
« on: October 10, 2021, 02:08:52 AM »

A couple of years ago Beebop created a series of Missions around a jungle pilot and his predicaments.

I converted the missions to be playable in BAT and with the approval of Beebop, release them now in a collected campaign mode!

Select country "None".
Set "No Instant Success" to OFF

As bonus, I took this one small step further to contain two Easter eggs which you can find when you have Whistler's fun NG-PAL mod. In two missions you may explore the scenery to find some food for your imagination...

Thanks for bringing Beebop's Jungle Adventures to BAT. Storyline campaigns/missions are a really enjoyable and creative contribution to this sim.

Having flown the first three missions so far, the P-5 is a good choice as a clapped-out old biplane living out its last days in the wilds of Indonesia. That first mission, flown blind in zero visibility across those mountains was a real white-knuckle ride! Very easy to lose spatial awareness, relying almost entirely on the compass not only for direction but for orientation to keep the wings near level. Most of the time I was anticipating flying into rising terrain! Almost as terrifying as being there!  :)

The third mission was a real challenge -- gaining enough altitude to get over and through those mountain passes and ridges takes a great deal of patience, nursing the engine to avoid overheating it and blowing a gasket. There wasn't much choice of somewhere to land in an emergency in that terrain! Having barely scraping over the second ridge, after eventually landing I'd swear Sparky was dragging branches and leaves, and what looked like a monkey's tail, out of the undercarriage!

A cracking challenge so far. Onwards and upwards to the next mission!

Bee is a great bloke and a legend, I have had the honor to fly with him on many occasions in the distant past. Always a gentleman and very helpful.
This, I am enjoying !& thank you for the upgrade to BAT !.

Having more time I flew and ran in these missions.
Personally I like this kind of atmosphere very much, I have a lot of fun.
Thank you Vampire for the processing and Beebop for the work.
Respect for the details and the whole graphic design.

Thank you for converting it to BAT
And thanks Beebop for the original work

After all these years of combat, shooting, constant fighting and destruction it was relieving to see a new side of the game ;D
Not to mention the breathtaking sceneries

No spoilers ahead, there's much more than just flying with beatiful views ;)

This reminded me that we really don't have a good bush pilot simulator. I think that would make a really fun alternative to combat simming.

We have. It's called BAT Flashpoint. More aircraft and maps than you can shake a stick at. All you have to do is write the missions. Especially true that we now have triggers.

It's a bit of a stretch to say that we have it and all I need to do is write the missions (-:

What I was thinking about would be like a flight sim crossed with euro truck simulator. MS Flight Simulator already has the environments and planes, but a really immersive bush pilot sim would include the business side too. This would involve planning routes, maintenance, upgrading your plane, etc.

I do agree that a business aspect would be good. But you can make pretty good non-combat missions with what we have (see above  :) ). Just needs mission designers with a lot better ideas and skill than I have...

Having done my good share of non-combat missions and campaigns (and more to come), I know the storytelling and writing aspect of these is the biggest hurdle to jump.
The creative thing where you have to tell a (somewhat) exciting bit to make this "work" is hard at times, and time consuming for sure.
Building cool scenery in FMB is actually one of the more relaxing parts.
