VP Modpack and BAT?
« on: October 19, 2021, 12:10:25 AM »

I have moved and am starting over on a new computer.  I love BAT 4.2, but on my old install I had added VPModpack to my game.

I have searched and I cannot find the instructions about how to do add VP to BAT.

Would anyone be kind enough to share those instructions with me.  I found a link to that discussion but it said the topic was off limits to me when I clicked on it.

Thanking you in advance for all your kindness and assistance!

Each is a quite different, standalone game environment, even though both are built on the same 4.12 foundation.. And they are effectively of somewhat different 'eras', if you will. Simply 'installing' the older on to the new is ill advised at least, and probably outright folly that just won't work.

The only approach I can envision is to extract content from VP ModPack, such as map and vehicle repaints, and add them just like mods to BAT. In doing so, you'll effectively become a modder yourself.  ;)

Von and I started our campaign making with dual versions of BAT and Vpmodpack but we found it became too much work to convert one campaign to the another. It ended up creating two slightly different campaigns, also trying to cater for those with older systems or lower powered computers. e.g. there are some aircraft and maps not in both mods so relevant substitutes had to be found and tested.

As much as we like both mods there is only so much time in the day that we had to decide which to use as a campaign base. As BAT had a wider choice of options we went with that. Apologies to the many who still fly Vpmodpack. It seems various facets such as maps from Vpmodpack are gradually being upgraded and transferred to BAT as noted elsewhere so in time I guess it will become one bigger mod. As we know the more mods added to the base game the bigger the chance of problems. It is amazing it runs as smoothly as it does, and that is down to our diligent modding community.

you can run VP just like a separate era folder , no problem.

It is just no longer actively promoted as there are various mission compatibility conflicts and DGEN incompatibilities. VP is no longer in any form serviced, and generally outdated from a java point of view.

Thanks for the explanation!  I just borrowed a hud mod from VP that I like.

just a general observation. I am not sure it is the wisest of all decisions to use your full email address as your handle.

This address is basically burned and literally subject to any spambot.
