Very well done Pete, you can see that you have worked out every detail.
It looks realistic, which is what your difficult work is all about.  ]cyclops[

I wish you luck in creating such beautiful things. And of course a lot of health  ]thumleft[

Hello guys, glad you like my latest update. 8)

As is always the case there are items not completely clear in the photographs I use so I just create a shape and add it on, the items for that tray are difficult to fathom as to what exactly it does and whether some parts holding it all together are actually screws or just studs of some kind.  The casting does not have the holes and the recess for the washers as there is no real need to mess around trying to replicate it as those bolts will be in position on the model but I did add the washers even though they can almost disappear in the recesses once paint is applied it just improved the look slightly.

Anyway, I hope to have that area mapped and painted today and then I can see how the parts look in game. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello again guys, just a few images to show the last component build actually painted and in game. ;)

Here we see all the bits painted and awaiting extraction from gmax:

Into game, a few areas had required tweaking on the chassis and springs so those updated parts were also
extracted besides the new stuff and added to the slowly evolving build:

Just a quick experiment with the wheels from the Thorneycroft slightly adjusted to fit the Bedford:

Not sure here whether to use the wheels I have and slightly modify things that might need to be changed
as it will save a lot of work creating new ones when there is not a great deal of difference.

Anyway, I have things to do at the moment so any further progress might be a while in coming so I just
wanted to finish this up for you to see the end result.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

              Hello Pete
 Impressive work, as always.  ]thumleft[
I think you should use the wheels you have.
As you wrote, a slight modification, will bring a good effect, it will save you a lot of time. You will be able to use it for body detailing for example. This is only my suggestion, I absolutely do not enter into your work plan.

Hello again guys, thank you very much for the kind words, really appreciated. 8)

As is usual the work you have seen I tried to get as close to the photographs I had and again
as is the norm anything I could not exactly see I tried to make it as plausible as could be. ;)

As you say Jarek, going with the existing wheels seems the best option I think, most wheels differ
mainly in size and width and in most cases can be said to look alike so I might as well save some
time and effort by using what I have.  I think the main difference in many wheels tends to be the
hub that attaches them and this is different to the Thorneycroft but that I will make separate.

So, with all that in mind I started the process of welding up the vertices that seems to always come
when you bring them back into the program, had I thought earlier I could have just created the new
scene for the Bedford from the Thorneycroft and retained some parts such as wheels from the earlier
scene instead I forgot so had to take a copy from the model.

This was also done to the various lods I already had and they were all resized accordingly to be closer to
those of the Bedford and each uses the existing texture so a little alteration to that should be good for
the Bedford so it saves a lot of effort.

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello guys, long time since I put anything here so I thought I would give you a update on what has been done since the last post just
to show you it still lives on. ;)

Real life issues and health have meant it was a case of one or the other as far as priorities went so sadly this went on the slow burner
but I have kept tinkering for a hour every now and then so here is where it is at.

I decided to try and replicate the steering as best I could from my available information, the purist will see
much missing and I have had to use a collection of different Bedford types of that era to give a rough
approximation of the steering system and here we see the first parts coming together:

Again to save build time some existing parts were utilised where possible and here the arm from the steering
shaft is added that will move the linkages that turn the wheels:

This picture from a different vehicle than the OXC gives me a clearer idea of what goes where so I compared
this to other photographs to try and sort out the linkages:

More borrowed bits and pieces from previous areas used here:

I could not find a clear enough view of how the linkages fix to the wheel hubs so my usual artistic licence
had to come into play:

These parts are ready for mapping and painting, the parts used earlier can just have their mapping moved
to a new area of the template but some would need to be mapped completely:

The parts were put together as two meshes, those you see painted are the first set already painted and this
has a poly count of just under the prescribed amount for a mesh:

Here the paint is complete for all the bits, some of those parts that attach to the wheel will be cloned and mirrored
to use on the other side but the mechanism that turns the arm is only on the one side from what I can tell:

And finally a try in game to see how it all looks:

I am not going to go overboard with the detailing on the chassis and for the moment I will leave things as is
and when I next get a chance to do a bit will make a start on the actual cab and mudguards so it can actually
begin to look a little more something like the OXC. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Outstanding job Pete! Once complete, feed it into a 3D printer and I believe we'll have a working model! 8)

Glad you like it so far guys, really appreciated. 8)

Not sure what it would come out of the 3d printer looking like Costas, someone did suggest that for the Thorneycroft but while I have
seen a little of that kind of printing I know really nothing about it other than it seems to take ages to make the parts, I will  leave that
for others to try. ;)

I think the old Airfix model might be a better bet, I am sure it is still available somewhere and it was a kit I enjoyed putting together myself
quite a few times. I see the Humbrol/Airfix catalogue now shows a Austin K6 ambulalance in the big scale, maybe we dare hope they make all
of the old airfields sets in the big scale one day.  :D

Stanislao, I wish you also a very happy Christmas and New Year when they come.  ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello Glen, glad you like it so far. 8)

It seemed strange posting something up after so long but at least it still progresses even if slowly. ;)

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
