my latest build - Academy P-47 1/72
« on: November 19, 2021, 04:01:37 AM »

so, this one was started way back in December, then shelved for several months, and now recently I've manged to move on with it a bit.
I struggle these days with 1/72 scale, preferring at least 1/48 for aircraft. I got this one for a steal (around $4 US) and decided to use it to practise my metallic finishes.
Pretty happy with the result so far - just need to polish off some furries that accumulated during the gloss finish, then a bit of dull coat where needed, some final oil weathering, fix the bombs and cockpit, and call it done.
Pretty satisfied at my first real attempt at a metallic finish.  ;D

Have a great weekend, everyone!  8)

First Eric, now you? Man you guys are really tempting me to get started on a few of the kits I have hanging around here.

Gorgeous work by and by - I had a Revell 1/72 P-47 agesssss ago when I was a wee lil fart.

Box art only, no photos of the Jug unfortunately.

 That is really well done.
That tail must have been a chore and the weathering overall and especially the nose and
  propeller is perfect.

Are those markings from the 86th Fighter Group, 327th Fighter Squadron?

Seems like I started a trend, I didn't mean to! :))

Still it's brilliant that everyone's sharing their model making skills. ;D

cheers, chaps.
@Ghost129er - go for it - it'll help to improve your zen when working on the Beemer :D
@Forager, it was indeed the chore that had ne shelve it fir awhile, lol. The decals were unusable, so painting was the only option (which I prefer, but the masking.....well.... :P )
327th is correct - based in Pisa, Italy, 1944

The metal finish is really impressive, more so, given it is  a first or early attempt.

I have used this site to get various width colored decal stripes.
