Indo-Pakistan Border Region
« on: November 19, 2021, 04:04:46 PM »

I thought I would share this little project, something I've working on on-and-off for a while.

The India / Pakistan border has seen at least three major wars and numerous skirmishes, most notably the 1948, 1965, and 1973 Indo-Pakistan wars.

This is a half-scale version of the region including all the most relevant areas of the Punjab and Kashmir, including a small piece of Afghanistan in the North-West (Kandahar) and the Swat Valley. Airfields are jet-friendly and should work within the 1965-73 time-frame.

Due to the limits of map_h editing and because the map is 1/2 scale, the Himalayas have been "leveled off" in the North-East to the maximum height Il-2 can handle.

The borders are modern - researching the conflicts and changes over the last century has been difficult. In fact I have never delved into any single conflict which is still so hotly debated. I offer this map in the spirit of remembrance, and to shine a light on the oft-overlooked, but very important conflicts in the region.

I think I have included all necessary textures, the rest should be in BAT. Thank you especially to Redko and Cyberolas for their wonderful work. This map encompasses almost every type of terrain, from ocean to desert to snow-capped mountains to steamy jungles and rice-paddies. It was a real texturing challenge.

There are also two new building blocks based on the Jerusalem blocks (I believe by nounette?). They are included to give the cities a dense urban look while cutting down on actors_static size. Most of the bridges are cosmetic in order to keep the rivers flowing downhill without canyons, apologies if I've missed a few...

Please let me know if the textures or objects are incomplete and I will upload a new version as necessary.

Nice. But I put in Bat 4.2 and when going in full mission builder to load it it crashes to desktop. I edited the all ini and put the files in Maps. The building blocks stay in map mod folder? does this map need other objects?

This looks like a great map! :D

I also get a CTD when trying to open it in BAT
Code: [Select]
Loading map.ini defined airfields:
INTERNAL ERROR: Can't open file 'MAPS/_Tex/CY6/Korea/TOP.tga'
INTERNAL ERROR: LoadTextureFromTga('MAPS/_Tex/CY6/Korea/TOP.tga')
WARNING: Error: 'WARNING: Error: 'WARNING: Error: 'WARNING: Error: 'WARNING: Error:'
WARNING: TLandscape::LoadMap('CY6_IndoPak/load.ini') - errors in loading
World.land().LoadMap() error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Landscape 'CY6_IndoPak/load.ini' loading error
Y=0 / M=0 / H= 12 , Temperature - 0m = 24.0 .
Loading map.ini defined airfields:

I re-downloaded your Korea map and could not find a TOP.tga in it either.

In BAT, the following 3 objects are missing for this map:

buildings.House$JBuildBlockCurved
buildings.House$JBuildBlockBig
buildings.House$Revetment

You provide entries for something called buildings.House$IBuildBlockCurved, is there a typo on your end?
It's easy enough the ad the two first entries with the J instead of the I though. The "revetment" is unknown to me yet.

Apparently a "buildings.House$IBuildBlock" is not even used in the actors, since it is not present in BAT and not missed either.

Hi,  After installing the Map in JTW BAT4.2 I get a CTD with an error during  the load.ini loading.
The log.txt indicates the following issues

1) missing textures
CY6/Korea/TOP.tga               I replaced it by  CY6/IndoPak/Mixx_TOP3_KO_redko_edit2.tga
CY6/Korea/Airfields_Dirt.tga  I replaced it by CY6/IndoPak/African_Airfield.tga  , the African_Airfield.tga being copied from another Map.
Replacing the missing references by existing ones solved this issue

2) typos in the static entries
[buildings.House$IBuildBlockBig]  to be replaced by [buildings.House$JBuildBlockBig]  ie  I replaced by J
[buildings.House$IBuildBlockCurved] to be replaced by [buildings.House$JBuildBlockCurved]
[buildings.House$IBuildBlock ]to be replaced by [buildings.House$JBuildBlock]

3) House$Revetment  static entry and object missing in 3do folder       In the static.ini , copying/renaming an existing object as House$Revetment solved the issue

After making these changes, I could edit and save a mission, nice Map....
Please could you provide all the missing textures and objetc and fix the "add to static"  file ?

Thanks
Best regards

As a general hint, it should be safer to check external textures references in the load.ini and provide them in a folder included in the .7z archive.
Best regards

Hello Mstislav, from what I see you are missing some textures. ;)

I will have a look and see if I can find them and post a link for anyone who does not have them.

Edit: Try this:

Take care and be safe.
