I thoroughly enjoyed putting this one together. Not too satisfied with my first attempt at zimmerit - but then, if you don't have a go, how are you going to improve? She looks the part from a distance, and won't look out of place amongst my collection. Anyway, there she is...

Decal time...




I've taking to using Humbrol DecalFix, and despite warnings on various forums that it doesn't leave much time to work with, I've found that's not the case - plenty of time to (carefully) slide those decals around, just as well - the three-piece Balkankreuz over the aerial frame was challenging.

The nerve-racking shrivelling-up as they settle over raised surfaces took some getting used to...

That's all the base colours on. Just a matter of dusting and washing to go, the moulded surface texture is doing a lot of the work for me...

Final verdict: Very nicely detailed kit, relatively expensive with miniscule parts and needless photo-etch that I found challenging.

O.k, groovers - I'm on a roll! Time for another blast from the past. 

Not too shoddy for a kit originaly released in 1975. Great fit, minimal clean up. The horse's legs might be a little short, and I'd forgotten the delights of making reins and cinches from plastic card (there's a sheet in the box), I think the whole ensemble will blend in with more modern offerings.











Currently waiting to make sure the glue's set before twisting and bending those reigns to shape and slapping some paint on.

Tamiya tank model maker should stick to making tanks, the head is also too large. In his defense though, horses are difficult to sculpt, even as a 3d model, something I attempted a few years ago with similar results.
It could also be intentional, a stylized thing, as the humans also have disproportionately larger heads.


The panzer2 model looks great with it's simple early war dark colouring, definitely worth the trouble it caused you.

It took a while to complete but it was worth it, I agree with rogeroger the Panzer II looks great.
Simple paint scheme and really detailed, one of my favorites.

Well...

 Had I found that lead foil before playing with plastic card, it might have been a different story, but the only way I could figure things out was to fix the rider to the horse then thread, bend and glue the plastic reins. I'd much rather paint the horse seperately, but ho-hum.

 No drama with the foot figure, the whole ensemble reminds me of chunky 25mmm wargaming figures, and those stirrups are distractingly huge. Oddly, the weaponry on offer is finely detailed and would hold its' own with anything available today.









Just for jollies, I assembled a much more modern and much more expensive (Dragon) figure for comparison...anyone for bread and soup?
