Love it!
This tank looks so good Andy.

If you ever do that Lancaster, what do you think of this idea?
I really like seeing the internals, same with watches.

Thanks for kind words, old chum.  ]cheers[

Once in a while I'm tempted by Tamiya's 'clear edition' 1/48 aircraft. I quite often see the Mig-15 at my local modelling boutique. The Swordfish looks...er, challenging. Maybe one day.  :)

Meanwhile, I've found what I looking for among my ever-increasing collection of spare parts. Stay tuned.  ;)

Well, there it is done.  :)

So how does it compare to the state-of-the-art more expensive Tamiya? Again, you pays your money and you takes your choice...

Thanks for looking in - back soon with some figure-painting fun and frolic  ;)

Assembled some of the figures that come with the Panzer IV, showing their age, but I think they'll paint-up o.k. For comparison, the chap on the right comes with the Tamiya Kubelwagen - I might start that tonight, tempting fate, I know, but looks like a quick and easy build.

In the course of my research, I found an interesting site that map-makers and the generally interested might find useful. Click on the photo's for larger image.

Having a leisurely day giving the chaps a sun tan. Started the Kubelwagen, too - so far, so good...

Looking scruffy at the moment, but I think we'll get away with it once the equipment's done and the washes do their thing...

That's the wash applied. Very shiny at the moment, will let wash thoroughly dry, matt varnish, dry brush, more matt varnish and that'll be them done.

Time to build that Kubelwagen...

There they are done and literally dusted. They're never going to compare with more modern figures on offer (see dude on right), but they do have a nostalgic charm about them.

Well, the Kubelwagen is coming along at its' own pace. I've decided to paint the interior as I go, thinking that the bits I don't do now will be inaccessable and sticking out like a sore thumb later. It's going through that scruffy and shiny stage at the moment.

Thanks as always for looking in - back soon with more African adventures  ;)

I made the right choice in painting as I go - there's no way I could get to most of the interior with a paintbrush had I assembled the kit first. I'd have preferred a decal for the dashboard too. Oh well, I could do with the practice...

O.k, groovers - that's the pesky work interruption out of the way, let's get this show back on the road.

Most of the pre-assembly painting done, it shouldn't take long to put the little feller together. I've found Revell 'anthrocite' the best match for my taste in rubber, Tamiya 'rubber black' a bit too black for me.

Most of the work I did on the engine now covered, although parts still visible from certain low angles at rear of vehicle. I think the biggest challenge ahead is fixing the windscreen without fogging it - hopefully my trusty bottle of 'Klear' will take care of that.

Well that's the build done. Pretty disappointed with the flimsy polythene windscreen supplied (I might replace it) and the huge gap between bonnet and frame if displayed upright (which - having looked at images of the assembled kit - might well be my fault).

Anyway, I'll let everything set and get some more paint on it - should look used and abused by the time I've finished with it.

Basic paint-job and touching-in done, time for a little shading before the decals go on...

Thanks for looking in - back soon with another budgie-smuggling bonanza  ;)
