Dashboard, steering column and wheel fixed in - tricky job, should have done it earlier. Left windscreen hinge now in need of repair... ::)

Some pre-weathering/shading, it'll be toned down as I apply varnish later, and built back up once the decals are on, makes the whole thing look heavier and less 'plasticky'. The cross hatch moulded texturing on the tarp is a bit heavy-handed, and the broken windscreen hinge is going to need a cunningly placed tin hat to cover it up...

Aaaaand we're back.  :)

Tyres painted, rear lights/reflectors almost there, some work around the arse-end, general weathering and tidying up. Just about ready for decals.

Oddly (or maybe not - we're building an Italeri kit after all), there's a nice aerial and mount supplied, but no wireless set. I've decided to rob a British set from the Tamiya Bren carrier, and do the Jeep as an H.Q signals vehicle. Of course, I've fallen down a 'what colour was the front casing on a British Type 22 wireless set' rabbit hole - I think for a little colour variation I'll go with light grey...

Decals on. The ones under the windscreen are to my eye slightly undersized - well, I did use leftovers from the motorcycle kit. There's also the small matter of the 'M' on the serial number - all British Army Jeeps and cars had an 'M' prefixing a seven-digit number, well...presented with only U.S Army or USMC options, what's a boy to do? "Buy some aftermarket decals, you cheapskate!" I hear you cry.  :P

The only option I had to hand was to cut the 'U.S.A' and last number off of the supplied American serial numbers before cutting the 'M' from the USMC option. I'm thinking all yellow would be an artistic license too far - but no 'M' just wouldn't do now I know how British serial numbers work. A little touching-in on the right side required later, but I'm probably going to chicken out of overpainting the yellow letters white...we'll see.

Anyhow, minor authenticity issues aside, as usual it's starting to look like we're getting somewhere once the decals are on.

Thanks yet again for dropping by - back soon with another windscreen fitting foul-up  ;)

Just as well I made an early start today. It's all turned into a project within a project...

Just slap some paint on the Bren Carrier wireless set and plonk it in I thought...but oh, no - Mr Tamiya had other ideas for my time this morning. Turns out the back of the set (intended to sit flush against some armour plate) is hollow, so it was time to get some filler out. Some curing time, carving and filing later, here's where we're at. At least the decals have settled down nicely.  ;D

I'm thinking that red/brown lino-like material familiar to chaps of a certain age would look the part and get away from all that olive drab. The front of the set, which of course will be shaded by the roof from most angles, might take some time...

Cheers, Tamiya  :P

Thanks for looking in - stay tuned (see what I did there?) for more plastic pandemonium  ;)

As with the dashboard, an impression rather than an exact replica. I'll give it all a while to dry before scuffing-up the casing. I also grew a pair and overpainted the yellow decals - not perfect, but looking much more the part.

Thanks for dropping by - back soon with another festival of filth  ;)

Tempting to ram the DVD home and flop out, but I got me a Jeep to finish  ;D

Now then...where was I? Oh, yes - getting somewhere.  :)

Time for a good squirt of matt varnish and a bit of weathering before I put the windows in...

Thanks for looking in - back soon with more four-wheeled fun  ;)

As a former Army Sigs I'd just like to suggest an antenna be added (either in op position or strapped down) to add to your detail given that you went to the trouble of 'installing' a radio.

It's been literally decades since I've done any modelling but I do remember using some heat and simply stretching some of the plastic sprue out to make a whip antenna.

Not sure if you want to go that far but just throwing it out there.  ;)

Going to be the very last touch, tomoose.  It's just the sort of delicate part that's forever getting broken off with constant handling. I might fly a blue and white signals pennant from it in your honour.   :)

Well, it's squeaky bum time!  o_O I've got an old bottle of 'clearfix' that's gone a bit stringy - going to put the glass in and hope it doesn't fog. The rear window supplied looks a bit thick to me, going to experiment with a chopped-up polythene bag - should look much better if it works out.

Here's where I'm at after some more weathering and a light squirt of varnish to seal it all in. Natural light giving a much better impression of colour and dust. The tow rope needs a shave  ;D

Thanks as always for looking in - back soon with a flurry of finishing touches  ;)

One of the ways to spot a British Jeep - white painted underbits.

Very close to calling this one done, currently dithering over which figure from the British officers set to stand next to it. Time for a long look for howling errors before a few absolutely final touches.

Thanks for dropping by - back soon with the finished article  ;)
