"...outside Dunkirk"?  I hope you meant post-invasion Dunkirk?  ;)

It's an interesting, often overlooked episode... ;)

Output severely restricted by work patterns at the moment. I'm busy researching in preparation for the return to normality. Stay tuned, cyber-chums - keeping things under wraps, but something should be trundling through this thread in the very near future. Two weeks, be sure.  ;)

A preview of coming attractions.

I was warned about Shermans. Thought I could handle it...

...2 M10 tank destroyers don't really count, do they?

But first up, with limited time this week, a hopefully quick and easy restoration job on a kit I ruined a few years ago and dug up while I was looking for something else.

Back soon with more plastic pandemonium  ;)

When I originally did this Zvezda BT-10, I overdid the final dark wash, and banished the little critter to the shelf of shame. Time to put a bit of colour back, methinks.

Hmmmmm...the green's going on a bit wet, but I think once it's dry, it'll all come together under a light dusting with weathering powders...

Currently waiting for the re-glued turret hatch to set, and rummaging around for a couple of items to replace broken parts.

Thanks for looking in - back soon with more Soviet salvage  ;)

The green dried better than I was expecting, blended in with Tamiya powder - which also picked up the mud texture. The figure is a placeholder - I'm running low on Red Army vehicle crew, but probably have an infantry figure that will  look at home in the turret.

A little work needed on the hatch. A very fine spray of fixative should tone the whole thing down a little - into the Goldilocks "just right" zone - then it's just a matter of finding a machine gun barrel and deciding if I want to replace the missing front bumper - I could claim battle damage.

Thanks as always for dropping by - back soon with more modelling madness  ;)

A spray of varnish and that'll do for now.  :)

Time to clear the decks for next week's olive drab extravaganza.

Thanks for looking in - back soon with more plastic peculiarities  ;)

I'm in the mood for a stress-free fairly quick build that I can try out some different painting and weathering techniques on. I reckon Tamiya's 1987 vintage Sherman Jumbo might be just the ticket...

Yet again, much maligned by rivet counters. I reckon it might look something like a Jumbo by the time I've finished with it. At least with the Big T's older offerings you know the parts are going to fit.

Good old Tamiya - just shake the box and a tank falls out...

Well there she is - built straight out of the box. Not a bad days' work.  :)

I might swap out the boxes on the rear shelf for jerry cans and add a tow cable. I reckon the figures will scrub up o.k and I like the duck bill tracks (old style melt lugs with a hot blade - but the lugs are nice and chunky for once). The only problem I encountered was with the spare track racks at the rear, I found it much easier to fix the frames to the vehicle and slot the tracks in rather than the sub-assembly on the intruction sheet. Well...that and the carpet monster eating the little co-axial machine gun - had to improvise a replacement.

Stuck at work for the next few nights, but have most of the next two weeks off. Looking forward to getting it done and dusted.

Thanks as always for dropping by - back soon with another rattle-can rumpus  ;)

Right! Let's get back to it.

Arguments you're never going to win on an internet forum...'what colour is olive drab?'

A couple of squirts of Humbrol olive drab (noteceably browner than Tamiya's two options - it's nice to mix O.D up in my opinion)

Tracks titivated, first wash. Will let it all dry and put some decals on. Looking not unlike a Jumbo, the kit's not as bad as some would have you believe - sure, there are a couple of more dimensionally accurate options available, but they're three times the price of Tamiya's aged and stress-free offering...

Thanks again for dropping by - back soon with more Sherman shenanigans  ;)

Decals on. That's the groundwork done, though still a fair way to go.

Tip du jour  ]idea[  : If you find Tamiya decals a little thick, I've found 'fairly hot' water as opposed to 'tepid' or 'lukewarm' improves matters greatly - I suspect it dissolves whatever thick adhesive that holds them onto the backing sheet, but I'm not a scientist. Oh - don't forget to apply decals to a glossy surface.
