No worries! She has pretty thick 78mm armour and could probably survive hits from an 88, the reason why she was so damn slow. ;D
Them gunners are darkly tanned, looks weird. :) My dad was in the Western desert, SAAF and had permanent tan lines for the duration of his life.

Try as I might, finding the last couple of hours to finish 'Tilda has been frustrating - I've found some copper wire to replace the string tow cable, got a couple of tin hats and some rucksacks from the spares box to hang on the turret, found a Webley revolver for the commander and am toying with a coloured pennant to fly from the radio aerial...now work's beckoning again. It's a conspiracy, I tells ya.  ;D

Oh, these chaps are probably going to be strolling past...I reckon I can backdate them with the right weaponry.

Two weeks, be sure!  :))

Them blokes look too white skinned to be desert rats, you'll have to tan em a bit. ;D

Yes, I may have to open a bottle of darker flesh shader. :)

I love those pics of Desert Rats in their winter woolies - gets pretty cold out there after sundown, I'm led to believe; and now I've got to look into whether proper flagpoles were standard issue on Matildas. Either way, I've put tomorrow aside to finish the old girl.  ;D

Delayed yet again, but here she is done.  :)

The tow cables were too big a pain in the arse - might have been a different story if I'd found that copper wire earlier in the build. The infantry have been knocked back to the 'as and when' pile, I'm planning on acquiring material for several bases/dioramas in the near future, they might come out to play when I build some desert.

Final verdict: A very nice kit that certainly looks the part, problems encountered were entirely of my own making; idiot-proof, but not Andy-proof  ;D. The 'Caunter' paint scheme a challenge, but not too bad a job for a first attempt. As mentioned upthread, I'd seriously consider the Red Army variant, or even converting one to an Aussie if I can source suitable crew figures.

Well, what's next? Itching to get that Jagdtiger started, and the T-28 is winking at me. I really should sort out a more permanent workspace first. Whatever, you chaps will the first to know.

Tanks for looking in (see what I did there?  ;) ) - more modelling mayhem soon.  ]cheers[

Well done! It looks absolutely lovely in that top pic.  :)  The flag adds a nice touch.

Another miniature masterpiece!

Do you have one of these in your collection?

Thanks, chaps!  :)

Haven't got that set, although I've got the old Airfix RAF emergency, refuelling and recovery sets; thought they'd look nice scattered amongst my 1/72 diecast collection. So far, I've just completed the Austin ambulance. I'd pick the Bofors set up if I spotted it at a show.

I *might* pick this set up soon - my old eyes more at home with 1/35 now.

...and I'm ready to go truckin' with the Red Army - I've had these for a while.

Not much getting done - I've gone down with a nasty bout of Man-Flu. I might bust out some figures later if I don't crawl back to bed - I hate wasting nights off.  :(

I am, however, planning a trip to the Tank Museum in the near future, so if anyone's got a favourite tank they want given a good photographic going-over, sing out.   ;)

Took a 'kill or cure' trip into town today. Long story short...who wants to see a King Tiger with zimmerit?  ;D

Will be going for this Eastern Front scheme...
