Also,
Taking off from a carrier without the catapult system is hard without modifying the speed of the boat and the load out of the a/c.
It almost seems impossible to take off from something like the U.S.S. Ranger without setting the speed of the boat to 50kmh.
Even then a F4F or a P-40 with a droptank will drop off the deck and almost touch water.
However, this is from observing AI and I think there may be a thing where the AI doesn't max out the controls or the engine.
My take off without catapults...as like IJN carriers:
Carrier at flank speed (flank is the top speed a ship can reach) and route counterwind as in RL if you set wind speed and direction....
(I have simple engine controls...if you have complex engine managements you have to understand how to gett fuul trust from your crate at take off)
1 ) start engine
2 ) full brakes (you can also use chocks) and take off flaps
3 ) full power
4 ) release brakes/chocks
5 ) immediately counter the torque with opposite rudder
6 ) elevator down to rise tail asap
7 ) keep tail orizontally to get full acceleration without increase drag tring to take off too early
8 ) a little bit before the end of the deck elevator a bit up to counter the after deck plane falling
9 ) as out of deck rise gear immediately
10) gain safe altitude with gentle clib to avoid stall....
You should be on air safely....
