Tangled up in Blue, a DBW Campaign
« on: January 29, 2022, 09:31:42 PM »

Tangled up in Blue

This campaign was made with Il-2 1946, 4.10.1 #DBW.

I can't verify if this campaign will work with anything else (but I wouldn't count on it).

This is a 65-mission, historical campaign, where you will fly with the 64th Fighter Squadron, 57th Fighter Group

During your first tour, lasting 40 missions, you'll fly the P-40 Warhawk, from the Group's initial arrival in Egypt to the capture of Sicily.

During your second tour, lasting 25 missions, you'll fly the P-47 Thunderbolt from the first days of Operation Strangle to the beginning of the assault on the Gothic Line.

Flying with No.112 Squadron, RAF, for a little on-the-job training.

In my campaigns, always start with the highest rank available.  You will thus have command of your squadron in the air in all missions, allowing you to order individual flights to attack specific targets.

Keep the skies clear over North Africa.

There is usually a lot of air activity going on during these missions.  This is a little reminder that there is more to this war than just you.  Cycle through the cameras if you want to see what else is going on.

Snug as a Jug in a rug.

There's a lot more ground attack going on than air-to-air combat.  Such was the case with the real 57th Fighter Group.  But there's enough that you could become an ace.  But this is a historical campaign.  Meaning that if the 57th did not encounter enemy aircraft during a certain mission, you won't either.

Here comes the dirty thunder!

Please make use of the readme.  There's information you'll want to know before flying this campaign.

The skins were made by vpmedia, Hayate, Jaypak44, R0NNC0, Eirinn, 450Vex, PhilK, SgtRock, Graf, CptFarrell, Emel, Buglord, Zorin, Alek31, Jarink, Imme, Rdans, Harpia Mafra 55, Texx, and Potbanger.  Thanx to them for the awesome artwork.  I have had a lot of these skins for quite some time, and I don't remember where some of them came from.  If you recognize your work, or someone else's, and they aren't specifically mentioned here, let me know, so I can give all due credit.

That download link, one more time: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ts3xlnrndizoepa/Blue.rar/file

Remember to download the mods I specified!

Thanx for downloading!

I imagine the first photo is titled "Blood on the Tracks"?

G'day ponyboy314

I have both B.A.T. 4.2.1 and VP Modpack so hopefully I won't run into any major problems with your campaign I can't fix.
This is right up my alley and look forward to downloading once available at M4T which is my preference.

Yep, next step is to upload this to Mission4Today.

I'll post a link to that once I've done that.

Oh, and Blood on the Tracks... ;D

Yey, this sounds like a great campaign!

If it is made under DBW, I do not think it will work in BAT right "out of the Box".

However, If you'll allow, I can look it over and make a conversion for the usual materials: planes, objects, chiefs used, loadouts used....
Everything should be there, mostly it's just a question of naming and referencing.

If you believe that you can adapt this campaign for other mod downloads, then I give you the go-ahead.

Keep me informed about this effort, could ya?   ;)

Sure thing!

The most common problem is Chiefs from what I see at first glance. The cub is also a different breed.

I also found missing skins.

###Skin FF-1.bmp for HurricaneMkIIc not found!
###Skin FF-Z4797.bmp for HurricaneMkIIc not found!
###Skin FF-Blank.bmp for HurricaneMkIIc not found!
###Skin FF-Z4434.bmp for HurricaneMkIIc not found!

###Skin vpmedia_Fi-156_lybia.BMP for FI_156 not found!

Thanx for letting me know that!  I already added the missing Hurricane skins and reuploaded.  Missing them is SO not like me.

I've changed the download link in the first post so that these skins are included.

Except the Fi-156 skin.  I looked at the download and that skin is in there, so I can't explain why it isn't coming up.

Again, thanx for the heads up. :o

Some reports with skins may result in a cap sensitivity of the tool, sorry about that. It does not like .BMP either for some reason. The game does not care.

But here's some more I found:

###Skin P-40-Africa-Gen.bmp for P_40K_1 not found!

###Skin 308FS-Z.bmp for SPITFIRE8 not found!

###Skin B25C-340BG-1.bmp for B_25C25 not found!
###Skin B25C-340BG-2.bmp for B_25C25 not found!
###Skin B25C-340BG-3.bmp for B_25C25 not found!
###Skin B25C-340BG-4.bmp for B_25C25 not found!

###Skin C-47_earlystars_R0NNC0.bmp for C_47 not found!

I hope that's all. I went and checked at least skins completely, as it affects others too.
The conversion may take me a couple days, whenever I find a few hours time.

Okay, I went through and added those, too.  I also went through my own skin folders in my Il-2 1946 (which I thought I had done already, but I stand corrected) and added any other skins that slipped through the cracks.

And updated the download link in the first post...again.

Let's hope I got this right.  Thanx for keeping me informed.

Okay, then.  I hope we're good, now.
