P-63 KingCobra Cockpit repaint
« on: February 09, 2022, 12:08:06 AM »

Cockpit repaint P-63 KingCobra_v1.0 by Repetier_71

Based on the original cockpit. All TGA textures have been affected.
The part was painted new, others have been repainted. A few textures were borrowed and modified, from the cockpit P-39N author Wxtech (thank you).
This job is my modest contribution, there is still a lot to do, but it's a step forward.
For possible future changes, I decided to deliver a complete cockpit.
greetings

A separate thread!

Sorry, I didn't pay attention, it didn't move the replies over.

Great work! Where do I install it? In #WAW3 or in #SAS?

In any "mod" folder you have in your installation. With the proper hierarchy, this cockpit must be charged as the first if you have another (but you know it anymore).

Generally, three simple soldiers rules apply:
Firstly
- Install only one mod, and check
Secondly
- Install only one mod, and check
Thirdly
- Install only one mod, and check

I just got around to look at this in BAT and I get a no-loader, with this error in the log:

Code: [Select]
Load static objects
INTERNAL ERROR: Missing LOD distnaces in 3DO/Cockpit/P-63C/CanopyGlass.msh
WARNING: object '3DO/Cockpit/P-63C/CanopyGlass.msh' of class 'SkinTL' not loaded
INTERNAL ERROR: MeshObj: Can't load mesh 3DO/Cockpit/P-63C/CanopyGlass.msh
WARNING: object '3DO/Cockpit/P-63C/hier.him' of class 'HIM' not loaded
INTERNAL ERROR: HierMeshObj: Can't load HIM 3DO/Cockpit/P-63C/hier.him
INTERNAL ERROR: HierMeshObj: Can't load HIM 3DO/Cockpit/P-63C/hier.him

In game log showed something about missing LOD values and indeed, CanopyGlass.msh has an empty [LOD] section.

So, technically, I am wondering if this could have worked for anybody ever?

Hello everyone!
I also tested it on the "BAT" version and got the same result.

Therefore, I ran the game in dump mode, without this mod. Then I searched for the original CanopyGlass.msh file, then converted with MshConverter and found the LOD section in the ASCII file. The original file has a value of "10000" so I edited the file CanopyGlass.msh from that mod and put the same value below the LOD line.
Now it works fine.

It's very wondering
Because ... extraction was from original game files
Because ... only TGA's edited
Because ... 95 downloads and the problem comes out
In the first post I put a new version with the edited unfortunate-pesky  :) canopyglass.mesh

Cold beer! And I thought the shamed who wore hair shirts and flagellated themselves were noble in their penitence. But cold beer! You, sir, put those false penitents to shame. Your suffering would make not only the Angels, but even the Demons weep!

Because ... extraction was from original game files

Every mesh but this one is. This mesh was in text format, not in the native game format, so it can't originate from the stock game.
