In a B.A.T. install (B.A.T. 4.0, anyway) there is provided a folder containing all the load.ini files for every map.
I would like to see a similar thing done for cockpit view hooks. Currently, for most 'pits the hooks are established in either Body.msh or MaineHull.msh. Often times these meshes are fairly large. And fiddling with them to make PoV alterations runs the risk of corrupting something. It would be useful to take the hooks out of these meshes and put them in their own tiny, dedicated mesh, called, perhaps, ViewHooks.msh, and a new entry made accordingly in the hier.him. For compatibility with older mods predating this new approach, the new hier.him, and perhaps a text file containing the particular hier.him entry, would be provided as well.
This would make it easy for the player to set the PoVs to taste, and this would be more accommodating of cockpit mods that touch such important meshes as Body or MaineHull. Only the cockpits of interest need have a folder copied over to the active mods folder for reading at game start-up. If a folder already exists for another cockpit mod, the ViewHooks.msh could be placed there, and the hier.him, if present and lacking the requisite entry, edited accordingly.
