Hello everyone,

I am an author of SFWA (Strike Fighter Alternative World) project (Posted in SAS lounge) and am working on a second project known as SFCE (Strike Fighter  Community Expansion).

LinK: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/97359-strike-fighter-community-expansion-sfce-v11d-beta-released-6062022/

Due to my eyesight situation, I had to pause both projects.  Took a few months of break and thankfully, my eye managed to start healing steadily through time.  That is when I return to the project.  Even though this is not related to Il-2 1946, I still want to share screenshots with neat changes to aircraft.  I hope this will inspire modder to do the same thing for IL-2 1946!

What is Strike Fighter Community Expansion (SFCE)?

Quote
The purpose of SFCE is to improve SF2 into higher quality simulation.  This is a foundation for my another project (SFAW).  Anyone are free to use this as your project too.  This is known as "community Expansion" because this mod uses various mods made by CombatAce community.

What you will see in SFCE:

- Upgrades to all SF2 aircraft with improved cockpit, .ini files tweaks, effects, having their own sounds files, and other kind of improvement.

However, SFCE, in another hand, does NOT add any new add-on plane or plane skins to SF2.  The reason of this:  With SFCE, anyone can use it as base to add any mods to it, build their own mod pack on top of it, or import big mod packs and upgrade it to work with SFCE.

In each new posts, I will add screenshots of what is done in current SFCE beta and ongoing process.

A-4's engine node when running on dry thrust and please note, it is still being improved.  I am making it a bit darker.

MiG-17 / MiG-17F / MiG-17PF

As all other updated aircraft for SFCE, have opening/closing canopy animation:

VK-1F Afterburner was one of most challenging project making afterburner flash in different size rapidly like a real MiG-17F and PF afterburner.

MiG-19s and J-6s / F-6s, surprising was one of the most challenging projects, especially with the afterburner effects.  After searching for the pictures and videos of RD-8B afterburner, I realized something after reading DCS MiG-19P Farmer Manual.  This is from manual:

You can see, their engine is dark red inside so their afterburner wouldn't be visible or at least barely visible in any old recorded videos.

With this, creating MiG-19s and J-6s / F-6s accurate engine node and afterburner color was an interesting project!  This is the result:

You can see the intense red part inside the engine nozzle and the flame becomes more orangish in color as they exit the engine nozzle.

Report on SFCE project:

While I am still searching for an authentical VK-1F afterburner sounds for MiG-17F and PF, I am doing two things at the same time:

- Improving the existing exhaust effects for F-4s and A-4s
- Working on TW A-6s, EA-6B, and A-7s

I am pleased with the result of the inner A-6's engine node animation.  If you peek around and look directly into A-6's inner nozzle, you will see it.

Nice work! I checked out your interesting thread at Combatace. I have First Eagles2, the ww1 thirdwire sim, and though I am not really a Jet era fan, I could become one after looking at this project and your lovely effects and screenies. :)

Today report:

A-6s and EA-6s are being worked on.  Almost everything is completed, along with cockpit.  I owe a big thank to HomeFries for his excellent A-6s and EA-6s superpack.  He poured a lot of passions into this.  Being a big fan of his mods, I am implementing the ini files from his pack.  A-6s and EA-6s cockpit are from SF2V Air & Ground War Expansion Packn (Malibu43 & Eburger68) and A-6 "Flight of the Intruder" Editional (allenjb42 & Monty CZ & Column5).

So far, EA-6B pilot's seat position are being tweaked and adjusted.  It is looking good so far

It turns out that EA-6B from SF2 does not have canopy opening/closing animation.  At least, the wing folding animation are still available!

Next report for today:

All A-6A and A-6Es have pilot and co-pilot posiiton and seat position adjusted so they are in align with each other when being in cockpit view:

HomeFries' excellent A-6 and EA-6 pack also includes .ini for the night lights, navigation lights, and canopy (A-6s only) and wing folding animations.

While testing MiG-15s, MiG-17s, MiG-19s, and J-6s / F-6s, I realized they are still using older cockpits.  After talking with the modders, I am updating all MiG-15s / 17s / 19s and J-6s / F-6s with newer cockpits released by Stary in Combatace website.  Here is screenshot of MIG-15s and 17s with new HD cockpit:

MiG-17PF also get new cockpit:
