A-36 Apache skins?
« on: June 08, 2022, 01:56:38 PM »

I know the perfect is the enemy of the good, but after finally being able to load the A-36 into BAT I find it's in default naked aluminum! I downloaded BAT Skincollection v4.0, but that didn't have a skin, so where is the OD USAAF skin by Jarink that is in the screen shot on the BAT v4.2.1 download page?

If you can't find a skin (or other IL2 1946 Support ) here ,
make your second stop at M4T.
The solution is often found there.

A picture would be nice of that Skin,
Jarink made the Template, my Skins and their Names can be exposed by being
named after their R/L serialnumbers. Always using this for naming references
Code: [Select]
A-36A

These I have here in my Skinfolder, are not done by me:

MustangMk1 as A-36 MAVONNE-PRISCILLA flown by Bert Benear  Corsica 1944
A36A-86FBG-DonaldSmith
A36A-86FBG-Blank
A-36A_MTOLate_1
A-36A_MTOEarly_1
A-36A_MTO_1

Watch out for older A-36 Skins done for P-51B or similar standin Slots, I remember some.

Hope this Helps

32 A-36 skins here, with aero-brakes drawn on the wings ... ;)

If you can't see the aero-brakes on the wings, then these are not A-36 skins ...  ;)

Pay attention to the name of the folder for the skins!
As you are in BAT, the folder is : A-36_Apache
Instead of : A-36A

Downloaded the 32 skins Mick suggested from Mediafile into the A-36_Apache folder, but they don't show in QMB, only the default. I can see them in the file too, so I'm not sure what's wrong.

Perhaps they are HD skins.
In this case you need to either enable your game to view HD skins ,
or to reduce the image size down to 1024 x 1024  1 MB for the game to read them.

All the skins in PaintSchemes are 1024x1024 1MB, but QMB isn't seeing them. All the planes have one default skin, or some a void, and that's it. Which file is it supposed to read?

... did you put them in their proper skin folder named: A-36_Apache ...?

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,69040.msg752202.html#msg752202

If you know where it is in BAT, open the "air.ini" file, the skin name folder must be exactly the one from the left column of the A-36 ...  ;)

It's working! Somehow the A-36_Apache folder was inside a A-36 folder, don't know how that happened, but it's good now. Thanks very much guys!

When I did that Skinpack BAT didn't had an Apache.

But we had already 2 versions of that Mod.

One older from AMT here from SAS that I refurbished and passed over into
Beta Testing and to AMT Devs.
2018 I had no clue which version will make it.

That's why.

BTW. this doesn't help on the sole responsibillity of Users always checking up air.ini and where to put Skins.
A lot of Skinpacks and Campaigns shuffle Blindfolders for a plethora of reasons.
It's always up to the User to check.
