Hello everyone!

This thread is all about discussing, and sharing the information, data, and resources (Pictures/videos) related to F-4s Phantom II cockpits and avionics for our libraries and hobbies.  We also can use it for modeling F-4s accurately, as well as use them as a reference for modding F-4s in the simulation accurately.

I have been doing research on the evolution of F-4s avionics/radar scope in USN F-4s (B, J, N, and S) and USAF F-4s (C, D, and E).  The pictures of radar scope colors have been rather difficult to find, especially for the specific variants of F-4s.

I am working on the big mod project which covers avionics overhaul for simulation known as Strike Fighter 2 (SF2).  Here is the screenshot:

NOTE:  The radar scope textures are still being improved with further feedbacks.

Note: In SF2, the radar sweeping and horizontal symbol colors is hardcoded and can not be changed yet.  So I am using SF2 default green color.

They are based on the pictures below:

I also realize there are differnt scope colors in various F-4B Phantom II as well.  For example, this is from F-4B / J manuals:

For SF2 F-4 avionics, I am creating multi-version with the different graticules colors so people can choose their preferred one.

What I learned recently about the early F-4s and the engraved graticules in radar scopes; The graticules would appear white or gray if the radar is turned on and operational.  And with the red filter len, they could look like a brighter red.  However, for the later version of F-4s (E version and probably J, N, and S) had the lines drawn on the len, so they would have the green shade like the sweeping line and horizontal line.

By the way, I am still searching for detailed pictures with the colors for USN F-4J / N / S and USAF C, D, and E.  If any of you have the pictures or videos, please share them here too.

Thank you
