F-111, YB-49, and a few other cursed models.
« on: June 20, 2022, 08:12:14 PM »

This has driven me INSANE ever since i first got BAT to work. I chose these two as primary examples because they are some of my favorite aircraft. First of all, the F-111 looks like it is a Chinese A-5 attack jet and a Thunderchief boinked each other and has Russian armament. The YB-49 model is just HORRIFYING because it is basically just an enlarged Go 229 with the weapons of the stock Horten. Sorry if I have been a little aggressive with the request here.

I am kinda new to flight sims, having played for like four to maybe eight years. Usually play stuff like IL-2, WT, KSP and a few small stuff.

You've made a bad approach, might want to do a 'go around' and either try
again or depart the area.

...... any "frankenplane" will look like a sort of twisted, distorted compromise  ... Sadly it is the very nature of the process. No point whinging about it  :-X

If you have a genuine desire for any aircraft, please post a civil and structured request with as much supporting information/images/drawings as your 5 minute  Wikki search can provide ... that way you will not be criticised or berated openly in the forum  ..... and your request can go on to be quietly ignored  ;)

To be fair I think the Franken aircraft are interesting. Also they hint at a potential new 3d which many old Franken types have gotten in recent times.

The YB-49 is good for German what if Horten flying wing bombers! ;)

Right!  8)

Hello Ruskiwaffle,

bk is not a big friend of the modern aircrafts. For me is "Nomen est Omen - the game is named "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946".

I have never criticized a mod if I didn't like it.

For example: L-39 modded as a Lockheed F-4 Starfighter (the F-4 is the only "modern" jet I've ever wanted to fly in our IL-2 game).

If I had criticized this plane, it would have been in kind words!

Somebody put a lot of effort into their work, this "modder" did it as well as he could - I'm sure of it!

If you don't like something, make it better and share it with us. No one is forced to fly every plane that is available.

Please be kind If you criticize something, please do it like a gentleman - do it quietly!

With best regards

 ]cheers[

Understanding the crazy amount of coding/modelling skills it takes to have a modern aircraft (with guided weapons, supersonic aircraft, complicated weapons loadouts etc.) in a sim meant for WWII aircraft a feat in itself. IL-2 wasn't designed for a swing-wing, supersonic F-14 and a Nieuport 17 with a very low top speed to exist in the same space, but they do.

Not every mod is perfect, but a franken aircraft that is modelled close as possible to the real thing is better than no aircraft at all.

People are supplying these mods for free (as a hobby) and the countless hours spent on everything from a single, obscure aircraft to the massive B.A.T. mod as well as maintain the servers to view/download/discuss mods.

Providing useful/polite feedback will get you a lot further than insulting someone's work.

Yeah- There are some planes in this sim that I won't play with because they don't look right as the planes they're supposed to represent. I even have a minor quibble or two with a couple of the "official" 3D models here (the razorback P-47's razorback isn't sharp enough), but I don't have the knowledge and skill to do anything about it.  People are putting in time and effort to make these models and they're being shared for free, and I'm appreciative of and thankful to everyone who contributes this stuff. You can take 'em or leave 'em.
