Help for textures
« on: July 19, 2022, 05:55:24 AM »

Hello  :)

I'm actually working on a map and I can’t create my own textures.

I found what I wanted on Google Earth but I can not turn them into the desired size (they are three Mb instead of one in 1024 ).

I have little control over Gimp or Photoshop ( skinner, I can do it but doing more is for the moment, beyond my abilities ).

Could someone either explain to me the steps to follow, including how to get the effect of tiles, or create them for me?

And I've another problem; when, in the "load" of my map, I put a texture of a format greater than 1024, it does not pass. I systematically have a ereur message when loading the card..
Yet I have the latest version of BAT, carsmaster files enabled in the JSGME and a PC that holds up..

... 1 Mb in 1024 = 8 bit colour format, whereas 3Mb in 1024 = 24 bit colour format, so maybe you need to turn the 3 Mb textures into 8 bit colour format ...  ;)

I personally do it using free FastStone Image Viewer ...  8)

How can do about the edges of textures? So that they don’t stop abruptly?

You have to make it seamless.
Gimp and I guess Photoshop provides some automatic feature but the result is far from satisfaying, at least as far Gimp is concerned.
So you have to do it manually.
It requires you to find your own methode. It's a tricky but passionating work.
Sorry to not being able to further help.

It’s starting to look like something!  O0

I have one last question regarding the part "2048 or more":
with me, it doesn’t work... :-[
I still have the latest BAT, the mod "HD mod DLL" and "True Color skins for modact" are enabled in the JSGME

The PC seems to be well within reach: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz..

What can I do wrong?

What do you mean exactly by "it doesn't work" ?
Have you some CTD or you simply not see any difference ?

Any idea what my problem is? I just tried again with new textures ( those of the map of Crete ) and I still have the same problem; my log indicates that a texture is missing but it's in place and there's no error in the path.
And skins in 2K works...

My graphics card is an NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER.
Or did I forget to activate something?
