possible to exchange PILOT MODEL showing in cockpit ?
« on: August 07, 2022, 10:49:15 AM »

 :)
hello all
FIRST : HUGE THANKs to the modders and BAT team for the incredible achievement on IL2 1946  ]notworthy[

I would like to have the A1h Skyraider tanker pilot
installed in the
A-1h NOT tanker..

(or even better, the PITTS special pilot int the A-1H Skyraider)

Been updating from 4.1 to 4.2 and suddenly my A-1H Skyraider pilot is wearing an O2 Mask !!!!
(I fly exclusively Vietnam USN jets especially A4 Skyhawk and A-1H Skyraider)

Since apparently it was possible to just put a mask on the pilot,
I was wandering which file I would have to modify (if it is that simple, which I doubt)
to exchange the pilot showing inside the cockpit (from external view).

Method rareAction in the plane class controls the appearance of the mask when an altitude threshold is crossed. This could be altered easily, but of course requires a Java compiler. The common altitude threshold is 3000m, which could be made arbitrarily large if no mask was ever desired to see.

I have only the WAW module, and seem to not have jet era plane classes (nor potentially other necessary classes that JTW planes might require). I checked for A1H and Skyraider, anyway; no dice.

Hopefully a jet-minded modder could jump in...  ;)

Thanks a lot for taking a look..

It looks like it is beyond my capabilities..

I downgraded my BAT version to go back to Skyraider pilot without O2 Mask..

Damn... it was so easy to change pilot model in aircraft in Strike Fighters Project 2 simulator...
(I had a mustache equiped pilot with sunglasses and no O2 Mask with canopy open
it looked just like pictures of the vietnam era...)

Some aircraft like the Tempest and Typhoon have the mask as soon as the engine is running... historical.
Many aircraft (Jets) have systematically a mask...

If the mask bothers you, just replace the "HMaskx" mesh by an empty (invisible) mesh.

Well Thanks for the insights anyway...

I guess I am stuck with the pilot model as it is....

For the O2 Mask, in fact, it is not an issue because most of the time,
the skyraider pilots in vietnam will operate below the O2 Mask altitude..

So no big deal for the Mask... :-|
