PvF’s Modeling Madness
« on: August 28, 2022, 05:09:53 AM »

Hi all!

Ever since I took my hiatus from IL-2 about two years ago I decided that I needed something to occupy my time and mind.

In my attempt to not go completely off the rails, I looked more seriously into model building and found that I have caught the bug.

These are a few pictures of my projects from the last two years as my sanity slowly fell deeper into the rabbit hole so to speak.

Enjoy!

Prior to my hiatus, I had two models in my room. Now I have 63 with 23 of those being suspended from wires.

Sincerely,

PvF/James

That is an impressive collection and building 30 per year is also impressive.
You seem to have spanned flight from the beginning to now and perhaps beyond.

There are a lot that I have not seen available in my area, what is your source of models?
Where did you find a Heinkel 111 Z?
In picture 4, center shelf, center plane, is that a C46 Commando?

What determines the scale you build in?

That's quite a collection, interesting to see how passionate some members are about aviation.

P.S.  Everytime I see your avatar/picture I think of Kramer from Seinfeld.

Hi Forager,

Most of my projects were kits that were not in their original packaging such as that 111Z and the Il-76. In those cases, sometimes I do not know what company made the kit although I suspect the 111Z was probably a now discontinued Airfix kit.

That is indeed a C-46 on the shelf right next to a YB-35.

The scale I’m most fond of is 1/72 because it’s easier to fit single engine aircraft into my limited space in that size. It also makes for good size comparison with the larger aircraft.

I only hang up 1/72 scale because of space constraints and weight. It’s also easier for me to add fine details on the larger 1/72 scale models.

Sincerely,

James

After having added to the ceiling display quite a bit since I first started this thread, I finally got a phone with a camera that has a wide enough FOV that I can fit most of the ceiling in the frame.

I’ll probably update this again in another few years when you can no longer see the actual ceiling anymore.

Cheers,

Geschirr,

Not a Victor, a Valiant instead. Mitsubishi Ki-15, no Zero here. YF-12A instead of the -71. The YB-35 is actually the XB. Bv 138? You must mean the Bv 141. Everything else is pretty much spot on (mostly), but you did miss two aircraft. The Kawanishi H6K4 next to the shelf on the left and the Tachikawa Ki-55 just to the left of the Valiant.

Gaston,

All suspended models are 1/72. Anything sitting on a shelf is a myriad of scales.
