Black Water on AMD RX590
« on: August 28, 2022, 06:17:02 AM »

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with my AMD RX590, conf.ini is forcing HardwareShaders=0 after game start, the water in game is completely black, never had this kind of a problems, only after recent fresh install.

I am currently running BAT 4.2.1 with Hotfix Patch 03 20220304, only RED CORE WAW module.

Am I doing something wrong?

I have an AMD card and for information here are the differences with your configuration:

HardwareShaders=1
DiffuseLight=1
Sky=1
Forest=2
LandGeom=3

That's all I can do for you...  :-X

Yeah, I tried that setting, still the same problems, interesting is that I know that these settings below need to be exactly set for AMD as is or you get "black water" problem:

TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=0
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=0
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=1
TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=0

But I really don't know why game is forcing HardwareShaders=0, tired everything. Must be something with AMD Adrenaline software, but I turned it off and is still forcing this option to 0.

I'm running AMD Ryzen 2700X with 32 GB RAM and Radeon RX590 8GB, game is on SSD, it should run and look like a charm, now it looks like this:

Is your file or the whole folder set to "read only"? look in properties for the file/folder. If nor read only try setting it after changing the settings you need.
