If you had to choose one of the modern jets for dogfighting in IL2 which would be the best for you?
Some of the models are very capable (if you keep in mind what IL2 originally was) for example the F16 and F18.
I can't really say which of these two I like the most.
The maneuverability of the F18 in lower speeds is just awesome but with the F16 you have always lots of energy.

Would be interesting to hear from some JTW players which jet in IL2 is your favourite in Terms of (ingame) capability.

In my fully non objective point of view : MiG 19

Pro :
-quite fast and agile
-great firepower
-good acceleration
-lot of beautiful skins (thanks to all the talented skinners)
-great looking airplane

Cons :
-short range
-light bomb load
-2 missiles only

I like the two-seat version of the MIG-19.
In General this plane is the best looking MIG in the Game in my opinion.

My favorite is the MiG-21.

I spend some time in the F-14, 16 and 18s because they are a joy to fly. Probably second are the Mirages, A-6, A-4 and F-4.

Favorite gotta be the il-28. She is without flaw.

I'm partial to the WW2 style of dog fighting, and realism.

I feel the older jets like the F-80, F-86, F9F's, FJ-2 or -3 are closer to reality.

I love the F-4's and F-8, but with no real screens working in the cockpits it takes me out of the real feeling.

Absolute favorite : A-4 SkyHawk
The scooter is a real joy to fly and land on a carrier.

In my opinion,
to this day, Il2 1946 still offers the most convincing and challenging Carrier Landings
(especially with jets).

The real time calculation of movements and interractions between aircraft and deck are simply unmatched by any sim I have ever had (and I have had many of them since more than 20 years ).

(Even though I like DCS a lot on many aspects,
I prefer Il2 1946 for carrier landings ).

I choose the F-16 because of the ease of handling, the functional HUD and the nice cockpit view.
Also, having flares and chaffs to deploy is a life saver.

(Yes, the F/A-18 has all of the above, except the cockpit view is too close to the dashboard and gives me nausea )
