Old map - new life.
I have long wanted to revive my old project:

The new version will be much lighter and more realistic.
Many good campaigns and missions have been created for the old map.
When installed, the new version will not conflict with the old version. But unfortunately, airfields and villages have been changed.
This map will also need to work on an « install-and-run »  basis for different versions of the game.

 All textures and objects are standard. I hope I'm already at the finish line for assembling this map

Let's try to install a new version of the map.
 For versions 4.09, 4.10, 4.12, 4.13, I added default objects from version 4.14 to the archive (instruction and objects inside the archive.)
For versions higher than 4.14, they do not need to be installed.

To install BAT and UP, you need to check the installation of objects: yurt and airport

I updated the textures, added 2 villages.
Static objects are reduced and do not exceed the total size of 150 kb.
I left some airfields and camps of nomads unfilled. I don't want to interfere with the creativity of mission creators or companies. In different periods they were filled in different ways.

I post an alternative textures pack without BumpH files.
This is a standalone package, textures correction by color and brightness.
You can replace completely. Unzip and replace the XGU textures folder:
  Path : _Tex\Far_east\XGU

Also a fix for map_t.tga. Replace the map_t.tga file in the folder maps mixx_Kh-Gol+ .

I'm very interested in how this new map will install exactly on version 4.09.
On idea with objects of problems should not be. There are few of them. Objects are thrown into a folder 3do and added to your static.ini.

Further. In my opinion, the trees in 4.09 are not yet 3d-fluffy. Therefore, they can be replaced by
default -type desert.

Open the load.ini file in the map folder:

Change section:
 Tree0 = Far_east\XGU\XG_Tree.tga
  //Tree0 = Trees\MTO_AlteredBush8a.tga
  TreeLightMask = Trees/LightM256.tga


Per section from MTO:

Tree0 = Trees\DesertTree.tga
  //Tree0 = Trees\MTO_AlteredBush8a.tga
  TreeLightMask = Trees/LightM256.tga


Next are the textures. I have them standard even for version 4.09.

Moreover, WxTech suggests to disable BumpH textures for experiment:
«I did, however, disable all BumpH textures. This is what I do to pretty much all maps now. Years ago I was enamored of the neat shadowing that followed the Sun. But over time I could not overlook the way the effect tended to be exaggerated by the game engine, making the landscape look to be pitted or furrowed with overly deep pits and gashes. Moreover, at lower Sun elevation they give the underlying texture a bit of a darker aspect than I like. (The basic landscape lighting already has the ground darken at bit too strongly.) But worse still is the way it gives the impression of an even lower resolution landscape.

Without the BumpH textures the landscape has a 'cleaner', sharper aspect that is far more pleasing to my eye.

I recommend to move all BumpH.tga files out of the way, at least as an experiment to try out the map under different lighting. You might find the elimination of the coarse, exaggerated shadowing to be a plus.»


Now I have to wait for screenshots of their installation from users of various mods.

I have always visited your topic with great interest. I have long since replaced default tanks, technics, planes ( LODs ) with models from your collection.

Hi Mixx, I really like this map - running fine in the latest version of BAT. I have come to agree with Glenn re bumpH files, and the screenshots are with them removed.
