Having only the WAW module in my B.A.T. game, I've belatedly begun to wonder if other modules have any dedicated or adjusted effects and/or classes.

Or is it the case that the one and same effects and classes invoking them are universal across all modules?

I can certainly see instances where some effects could be tailored to a particular era. For instance, the huge difference in aircraft speed from WW1 to modern times would warrant adjustment of such effects as, e.g., damage smokes. As aircraft speed rises, a more rapid emit rate of smoke particles is desirable so as to keep the separation between emitted particles from getting too large. For the slower crates of yore, an initially somewhat narrower smoke trail could be better as well. And in a number of other respects could effects be better tailored by era.

Nobody knows for sure anymore (if anyone ever did)

I can say I don't. So, if you want to know, you'd have to investigate. My guess is, some differences do exist.

Vamps,
I'm completely ignorant in the matter of the treatment of the different modules. Do the other modules (ROF, JTW et al) have in them the same folders containing the BAT classes? As in, each module repeats the same content? Or is it the case that all other modules read the classes contained in the WAW module folders?

If, for instance, it is required that each module contain the classfiles for Explosions.class, then this tells me that one could indeed configure a class so as to be more suitable for the era represented.

And more directly, which I think I know the answer for, does a mod have to be installed in each and every module in which it is desired to use? I think that's a yes.  ;)

The system with folders for classesa and all is always the same in all eras.
As for SFS, there is a shared folder, BAT00.  In there reside all the maps and objects, stuff which is the same over all eras. Java classes are not shared in SFS though.

The important thing is, there is a hierarchy, which puts BAT00 to the bottom. So you can override something in the common folder with something in a specific era folder, like BAT03B for WAW for instance.

And the contents grew over the past decade. So. Even if it looks the same in, say TGA and WAW, it does not mean the 3do resides in BAT00. It may very well be one or both are in BAT02B or BAT03B respectively. So deploying something "common" requires testing : Does it look right?  - or just go ahead and put it equally in each era folder from the start to be sure (which of course can be heavy on the size, depending what you do)
