P-40 wrecks
« on: October 26, 2022, 11:48:50 PM »

At the instigation of genXgamer, I rotated the two existing P-40 wrecks, which are lying on their backs, so as to have upright versions as well.

Get it here:

From the included readme:

Stock P-40 wrecks fix, and new versions of these wrecks lying on their bellies, by WxTech

The existing two P-40 wreck objects (general and British) lie on their backs. In the process of making new versions that rest on their bellies, I fixed the Smoke hook position and orientation, and fitted the collision box more closely to the fuselage.

Made brand new are a version of each of these objects, rotated so that they rest on their bellies.

The static ini entries for these two new P-40 wrecks:

[buildings.House$P40wreck_upright]
Title           P40wreck_upright
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/P40wreck/dead_upright.sim
MeshDead        3do/Buildings/P40wreck/dead_upright.sim
AlignToLand     0
Body            Flesh  //FuelSmall      // FIXME: need special type 'Vehicle'
Panzer          0.01  //0.005

[buildings.House$P40_gbwreck_upright]
Title           P40_gbwreck_upright
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/P40_gbwreck/dead_upright.sim
MeshDead        3do/Buildings/P40_gbwreck/dead_upright.sim
AlignToLand     0
Body            Flesh  //FuelSmall      // FIXME: need special type 'Vehicle'
Panzer          0.01  //0.005

If you use my effects pack v1.6 or later, I recommend to change the Body type to Vehicle.

Incidentally, I did this in a spreadsheet. Upon determining the existing axis orientations, I multiplied the Y and Z vertices by -1, and did the same for the corresponding surface normals. This effected the required 180 degree rotation.

Hi WxTech

This one below, do you think one of the 3d modellers here could attempt to get it's tail wheel down?
It would be good to have many versions available in the FMB.

Shane,
With any halfway capable 3D software, these kinds of model rotations are child's play. Any number of modders who hang about here should be able to do this in a couple of minutes, I should think.

I could dig out some algorithms and adapt them, I suppose, but that's rather more labour intensive than I care for right now, what with the other projects on my plate.  ;)
