I downloaded, from GOG, version 4.13.4.  It seems to work just fine.  I am a loss on how to install the unpatcher and then Patch to BAT 4.0, 4.2 and 4.2.1.  I did download the unpatcher.exe.  I first put it in its own folder, didnt work.  Then I copied the 4.13.4 version and put it in a folder called C:/games/IL-2 Sturmovick 1946 and installed the unpatcher there.  IT was still 4.13.4.  The instructions say to install it as admin (I am really new at PC stuff have always used a mac), have no clue how to do that....do I need to do that somehow?

Hello, and welcome to PC gaming !!
You have to "point" the un-patch to the folder where the game is installed when you run it.
The default location is probably not where you have installed your game.

My apologies if this is not the problem, but just a guess on my part.

I copied the 4.13.4 file and made sure it was running correctly.  I then downloaded the unpatcher and told winzip to unzip to the copied 4.13.4 file.  I saw a folder marked 4.12.2 and a batch file that indicated that it was the unpatcher.  I ran the batch file.  I got a series of messages from the os that said it could not find the path and then told me to enjoy the patched version.  when I used the shortcut it took me to the 4.13.4 version.  I am missing something somewhere.  not sure what to do next.
In reading the guidance on the unpatcher, it says to put the unzipped files in the IL-2 root folder....which one is that?  I tried the top level file that has all the folders/files in it but that didn't work. Then tried the _support file which is the first folder within the IL-1946 Game folder, that didnt work.  I keep getting 4.13.4 when I start the game up...so I am not doing something right.  HELP!

OK, I think I understand your problem. You need to extract the unpatcher archive content in a new folder (name it as you like) and copy this folder in your il2 game directory, then launch the .bat file. Tested a few minutes ago, it works fine.

I see where I made my mistake.  When I went to look at the program, I used the same shortcut which took me to the  v4.13.4.  After running the program the way you suggested, I saw a new application which I ran to find that it was v4.12.2.  But the shortcut to v4.13.4 was still there.  I deleted that shortcut and am now ready to download BAT.

Thanks, one more question.  In looking at downloading the BAT it says to put the zip files and installer in one place.  Do I unzip the files as I download them or does the installer unzip them?  My WinZip is trying to unzip them as I go.

Don't unzip anything, just let the installer do the job.

Thanks on that.  I figured that out when the installer said all the zip files were corrupted.  Luckily I did have a copy of the downloads to take to Idaho with me, so just copied those in and the install worked fine. 

When I look at the aircraft, per the WAW instructions, I see that the AVRO Lancaster Mk111, 1942 shows just blue.  When I look at the Avro Lancaster 'upkeep', 1943 it looks right.  I downloaded both the BATDLLS-01 and the unzip told me that there was a file msvcr71.dll already in existence, So I downloaded BATDLLS-02 and when it unzipped I got the message that il2corSSE3.dll also exists.  I replaced both .dll with the BAT versions, but no change.  Is this normal or do I need to rename one of the .dll to see if it makes a difference?

I see also that I need to something called DGen for WAW....it appears to be another zip file.  Do I just unzip it and put it in the IL-2 folder or is there an executable/application I need to install?

How do I update or install the different campaigns?  Are they already included?  I was looking for European Theater Campaigns but cant seem to find any dealing with the UK or war in Europe.

Also I read someplace that I need to also install BAT 4.2 and BAT 4.2.1  How do I do that?
