MS406 throttle
« on: November 18, 2022, 11:16:25 AM »

Has anyone noticed a limit on the Morane 406 throttle. I take off manually but when I move from button 9 to zero for 100pc throttle the plane freezes, although all the controls still work. It is as if the plane is only meant to fly at 90pc throttle. The rest of the planes in the mission carry on as normal.

I have not experienced this with any other plane so far. The MS410 fighter which is the later model operates okay.

What do you mean when you say the plane freezes?

The mission carries on but the MS406 stays in the centre screen in view F2. In the mission the enemy bombers fly by and my wingmen carry on attacking them while I get left behind at a standstill in the middle of the screen.

I checked my Input and that was normal joystick response. In view F2 the rudder, ailerons and flaps all move to the joystick as expected but the fuselage and wings do not. The plane does not bank, climb or dive.

It is like the zero button for 100pc throttle disables movement on this plane. Any other planes I tried fly normally so it is just this one that is unusual.

Make sure you do a search on the forum.
Only a week or 2 ago, i had the same problem with a Dutch plane and others had other planes.
It came down too 2 mods, but i only know 1 for sure: Gear Damage Mod.
Make a search and you should find the other one too.

The Gear Damage Mod has been updated, so maybe that would solve the problem too.

I have had the same happen to me the other day with the po-2 after accidentally shooting my tail
It happens from time to time. It's rare but is very bizarre

I may have solved the problem. In the difficulty set up I disabled complex engine management and the MS406 works fine now.
I wonder if the designers meant it to be underpowered, i.e. less than 100 per cent throttle, as it had a reputation for being so.

you have heard of a thing called The Log, right? ;)

That on the other hand is a known effect when damage textures are missing. I had a couple such encounters over the years and fixed them. It should be fixed around the U-2 derivates, so if you encounter this is an up to date BAT, I need the exact plane type, the info if you were pilot or if it was AI and the log.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago testing the new 115B 3d on a BAT 4.2.1 + WxTech's Effects Pack v1.5 for B.A.T and I had to remove the full throttle mod from the latter to avoid freezing the plane in the air.

I tested this in an unmodded BAT and the power translation in the 406 is normal. It goes up to 110% and is in line with throttle input without any error. I would blame a mod you may have, effect or otherwise

I tried to replicate the problem in QMB to no effect. MS406 with Complex engine management ,normal take off an all the keyboard controls worksnormally I tested power, pitch, mixture and everything ok from 0 to 100% both with keyboard and Joystick

I have WxTech's excellent effects pack v1.5 installed so will look at the throttle mod in that.
