TOAS MOD v4.1-RC1
« on: November 18, 2022, 06:15:05 PM »

DREAM MAKERS AND SIMARG PRESENT

T.O.A.S MOD (SOUTH ATLANTIC OPERATIONS THEATER)
A MOD FOR IL-2 1946 v4.12.2 + BAT 4.1.3 OR HIGHER

After so much time of silence, it is a pleasure to re-introduce our humble project to the community. I know that many were attentive to the TOAS project, and today, after a long time since it disappeared, we have good news for you! The project is still alive and we already have it here again!

With the constant updates of the BAT, we have achieved this latest version of the project, which, as you can see in the image, is a "Relase Candidat", although everything indicates that it will be the definitive version...

Well, I think most of you already know what this humble job is about, but for those who don't, I'll tell you: TOAS MOD (South Atlantic Theater of Operations), is a compendium of mods with several years of development. Their objective is to add to our IL-2 BAT the necessary elements to be able to represent, as faithfully as possible, the conflict that took place in 1982 between Argentina and Great Britain for the domain of the Malvinas / Falkland Islands. 40 years after the war, this mod also aims to be a tribute to all those who lost their lives in this confrontation, both Argentines and British.

INITIAL NOTE: THIS SET OF ADDONS THAT ARE OFFERED TO BE ACTIVATED WITH THE JSGME, IS IN MANY OCCASIONS OWN WORK, IN OTHER WORK ADJUSTMENT OR MODIFICATION OF THE SAME, BUT IN NO TIME WE WILL UNDER ANY CONCEPT OF APPROPRIATE OR APPROPRIATE.

Without further ado, let's get on topic...

SOME FEATURES OF TOAS MOD v4.1-RC1

Harriers Family Pack
New Harriers Frs1 and Gr3, courtesy of Ranwers and mace
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,68153.0.html

Our own Harrier Frs1 & Gr3 models, based on the works of dr strangelove of freeil2moding and western0221 of sas

Dassault-Breguet Super Étendard
An expected by many. Unfortunately this bird was left unfinished as it would have deserved, for which it still has some shortcomings, however, it performs well the task for which it was used in the conflict, firing the AM-39 Exocet missile!

New Ships
To the existing Type-22 HMS Broadsword (F88) and Type-42 HMS Sheffield (D80), are added the new ARA General Belgrano (C-4), Type-21 HMS Ardent (F184), RFA Sir Galahad (L3005 ) and SS Atlantic Conveyor. And, of course, the excellent Falcon aircraft carrier that comes included in the pack of new Harriers from Ranwers and mace!

Retextures and Rebuildings
Historical reconstruction of all the bases of the islands in the outh Atalntico Sur map of Baco.

Complete Skins Pack
Optional JSGME-activatable retexture for the droppable fuel tanks of the A-4 Skyhawks and Mirage Family and a highly detailed and comprehensive set of skins for all aircraft in the pack.

Missions and Campaigns
A very complete addon is being prepared by WWIIES with campaigns and single missions seen from both sides.

That's all for now, we hope you enjoy the pack as much as we enjoyed making it! Good flights and good hunting!

Hi, tried installing and I noticed the bat selector screen does not have toas era as an option. I madea vanilla copy of bat 4.2.2 then applied the patch 4.1 to the root folder and activated the two files mentioned in manual but nothing in selector screen. Ca you advise? Thx

I chose the second method of installation according to the manual-if you previously did not install a previous installation

Hello. I really don't quite understand what you mean. If I understand correctly, your problem is that you can't select TOAS MOD from the IL-2 Selector, is that correct? There is no apparent reason for your problem as long as you have followed the installation tutorial well. I can partly deduce that you may have had an error in the decompression of the package (remember that you have to use 7z and not WinRar for the decompression as is and it is indicated in the tutorial). You can install TOAS MOD without problems on any version of BAT 4.1.3 or higher including the latest version 4.2.2 and you will not have any problems. However, you can check the following:

Check the content of the downloaded package "TOAS_MOD_v4.1-RC1_x_BAT_v4.1.3_or_+_new_method.7z", open it with 7z and verify that the content is what I show you in the image. If all is well, proceed to unzip into the root of your BAT installation (in my case it is C:/IL-2 BAT, for example). During the unzip process, you should receive an overwrite notice referring to the ilfb.ini file (this is explained in the installation tutorial), which you must accept.

Finally, continue with the mod activation process, launch IL-2 Selector, and select TOAS MOD from the dropdown options (just below JET ERA).

I hope I was able to help you! Cheers!

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your Mod. Just a question, as this is a very big mod, do you plan to provide the different parts (aircrafts, ships, vehicles, maps, skins etc...) as separate parts to download or at least to provide a list of links to download them (ie one link per aircraft, ship, vehicle etc...)?  That way we could be able to choose what mod to download instead of downloading a big mod with duplicate aircrafts, ships... already included in BAT 4.2.2...
This is just a question....

Best regards

I second this request, as it would be awesome to just have what is missing in BAT, no matter if it must be installed "by hand" !!!

Hi guys! First, thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated and shows interest in our work.
TOAS can be considered, if you like, as one more complement to the BAT modules, and, as in this one, there are objects (planes, ships, etc...) that belong to this module and cannot be installed individually . What they are asking for is equivalent to asking the BAT developers to release encrypted aircraft within BAT (such as the Canberra in the case of the JTW module, or many of the WWI aircraft in the case of the DOF module). However, there are many elements that the TOAS Team has been ceding to the BAT developers and that are currently in it, such as the IA-58 Pucará, the CH-47 Chinook helicopter (3d model and cockpit) or the frigate Type 21 Amazon, to name a few.
TOAS was actually born as a private mod, but as it grew, we thought the community might be interested in it and that's why we made it public. Indeed, the first versions of the project merged the elements of TOAS into BAT through mods that could be activated in JSGME, but as BAT was updated, some things stopped working and others simply did not work together anymore, on the other hand , it seemed wrong to us to interfere in the work of the BAT guys. Finally we found a balance in a vanilla JTW v4.1.3 folder (only 162mb), where we were able to assemble TOAS MOD in its latest version, which is the one currently offered for download, which has many fixes and changes compared to the old versions: 3d fixes of the Skyhawk family and its flight model, update on the IA-58 Pucará (added navigation lights and cockpit fixes), added new Super Etendard (beta) aircraft, retextured and rebuilt of the map of the south atlantic, etc...
On the other hand, what you mention as "duplicate elements" is not such, but they are the same BAT planes, since they are not housed within the #TOAS folder (only TOAS MOD's own planes are there) , all the other planes, as I said before, belong to BAT and are encrypted in folders such as BAT04 or BAT04B, so this does not add weight to your installation with duplicate elements as you mention. The only thing TOAS does is list them and in fact you have a small mod available in JSGME which reduces the air.ini list to only the planes that participated in the conflict (all this that I mention is explained in detail in the PDF manual of TOAS MOD in the main thread of the topic above).
Maybe later the BAT guys want to reach an understanding with us and merge TOAS into BAT, but since some things we included in TOAS are still in beta (like the Super Etendard), I still don't think this is possible.
