Adding Mods from one folder to another
« on: January 10, 2023, 05:01:33 PM »

Hi,

I've been trying to add some of the WAW planes into JTW, while some work Like the Ki-43 and SBD-5, some other flat out make the loading screen crash, but others like the P-38 and DH-86 don't make the game crash on loading and show up in the plane list they don't work, the DH-86 Express when loading into a Quick Mission just says plane inoperatble mission over, while the P-38 has a flying model that works but you can go in the cockpit or even control the plane

Anyone one have suggestions to fix this?

Thank you

Hello LittleBird,

if I understood you correctly, your problem is that you move the mod from one mods folder (e.g. WAW#3) to another folder (here #JTW).

Afterwards you must of course also update the "air.ini" entries in the folder in which the moved mod should work.

Best regards and good luck,

I don't master the BAT system... but...
The added aircraft classes which are by default in the folder "\#WAW3\Classes-BAT" ?
Shouldn't they also be added to the "JTW3 Classes-BAT" folder?
And the same for any external FMs in "\#WAW3\Classes-FMs"?
There remains the question of loading the SFS contained in "BAT03" and "BAT03B" !

Hello Gabriel,

I'm not so sure about that either.

But this is about a mod and I suspect that the rest is included in the B.A.T. - I'm just not sure...  ;)

With best regards

I've been trying to add some of the WAW planes into JTW,...
For an external and standalone Mod, no problem except if this Mod uses "WAW" features.
But in his request I don't see any reference to Mods but to planes contained in WAW!
Bof... he will tell us!  :D

I think that porting planes from one module of BAT to the other is not an easy task as you will be missing classes, FM and 3d content that is stored in the sfs files inside the BAT03 and BAT03B folders.

In some cases may work (in particular for stock planes) as some of the additional content is stored in the basic sfs files of the game and in the folder BAT00 but for most of the planes you may miss classes (20% ctd), FM (60% ctd) , COD (weapons not showing), and 3d content (plane not showing or unusable), sounds, effects etc etc.

Depending on the specific plane you will therefore need to ensure that the missing files are loaded.

The best option would be to install the additional planes that you would like as additional mods inside the #JTW3 folder so that you make sure that all the needed files are there (3d, classes, fm, COD etc etc) and then update the .ini files accordingly. Of course this would imply some duplication.

In summary just adding a line in the air.ini is not enough and will in the majority of cases just disrupt your game.

Yeah I was just trying to do the lazy way and just switch the BAT and FM classes and just do the air.ini but I tried just a clean install and it worked!
Thank you guys!
