Yes, the actual interior from the Cessna does look very nice, I like that colour and the look of the fabric. ;)

My version does not have opening doors or the spats so do we have two versions somewhere?

I managed to sort the rudder, part java part reorientating the mesh, there seems to be some oditty with naming as well
so not sure which mesh was supposed to turn but at least the proper named one does now, not sure it is going the right
way though!

I also sorted out the windscreen issue and reduced the poly count by removing the outer layer, it had a inner and outer:

I will take a look at the yokes and pedals next and then who knows. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

I have the same version and unfortunately I do not know if any other exists :-|,
Thank you for the information about the progress of work, this plane deserves a little attention 8).

Hello Pete, I don't think there is a version of this mod with wheel spats or working doors however the FSX model that Eldor converted does https://www.carenado.com/sitecarenado/product/c172n-skyhawk-ii-ski-fsx-p3d/

Hello Will, thank you very much for the clarification, I thought the model you were showing above was in IL-2 but now I go back to the image I see you mentioned it was from FSX. :-[

Great skin you sent, thank you very much, really appreciated. 8)

Normally if I decide to do work on something I keep the original and might rename it so there is no mix up, here I only had the one so I assume this is what was originally posted then. I do have something sent to me by my good friend Alex but that was a test using the cockpit from the Baron I think but that is stored outside the game as I never managed to get it going properly as mentioned earlier. I have a bad habit of downloading stuff but never installing until weeks after and by then it has usually gone through numerous updates or another new 3d has been posted. :o

So, it looks like I just opened up the java of what I already have to add the new cockpit then so I know where I am I think. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wioshing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello guys, not much in the way of progress so far but here is what there is. ;)

I cut up some of the necessary parts from the models actual cockpit, not sure what the pull levers are
actually for yet so will need to do some research but I would guess they do something with fuel/air/ radiator
management, if any of you are familiar with the Cessna please advise as I only ever flew in Piper Cherokees
and that is so long ago I forget:

First try without any alterations to the positions of the parts:

They were installed using a full version of the parts to get them in position before hiding it. As you can see
there is work to do getting them to move correctly, the java actually comes from the Baron as the intention
was to use the instruments from that as well as the actual parts from the Cessna. From what I can see in
the photograph at the start of the thread these pedals appear as though they slide on a rail/in a groove or
something such like whereas the pedals from the Baron actually swing on a holder. So, I need to tinker a bit:

The Yoke is at the moment just placed in position so at least the cockpit looks complete but does not yet
move as it should as that is still to do. :D

If I can get the parts moving correctly, I will upload again because sorting out the instruments is a whole lot
more aggravation so will take a while, especially because I have not done this for a long time so have to learn
how to go about it all over again. :o

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Hello Pete, she's coming along nicely!

To answer your question, the two pull levers are throttle (left) and mixture (right)

Okay Will, thank you nvery much for that really appreciated. 8)

I could not actually see anything that might be the throttle from the images but it could have been hidden out of the way but my thoughts were also that one of those could actually be it, we are just so used to seeing actual levers for the throttle in game that I could not be sure. ;)

It's alright Pete, from looking at photos and vague memories of being in the backseat, the two pull levers are tricky to spot, and then there aren't too many photos with labels for them so I could see how they could be interpreted as for fuel/air/radiator.
I had an inkling that the throttle was a pull lever similar to the Evektor SportStar (the only aircraft I have flown) and the couple occasions of flying in the back seat of a 172.

Hello again Will, yes memory is a delicate thing when you have not been around flying for a very long time, I think we both need to get away from our PC Warbirds and get out more to take to the skies in some general aviation stuff to get the joy back again. ;)

My nearest airfield was Blackpool Squires Gate, about 17 miles from where I live in Preston, friends might tell you I spent more time in the bar that then overlooked the apron more than actually in the aircraft cockpits. :-[ Truth is I always had plan B, if football was away from home then the airfield it was, whether I was in the air or not depended on the weather and it could be quite nasty there on the coast so I saw no reason to ruin a good day out, I might add I did get there by train not my own vehicle so it mattered not one way or another if I took to the air or not once I was there.

Anyway, where were we?

Yes, the Cessna. ;)  I thought it might be easier to use some dumped classes and an extracted cockpit for the B-25 to make my own cockpit but it was as much a pain as trying to sort out what I had so I went for the tried and trusted but slow method instead. This essentially means adding the parts into gmax and reorientating them and at the same time utilising the Matrix Parameters utility to alter the hier entries to get where I wanted by trial and error, slowly hence the lack of any response from me for a few days.  :o

So, did I get anything at all to work, yes, you will be happy to know, here the now moving pedals on the port side:

But as of yet not on the starboard, here is the mess at the moment:

I think the cockpit java originally came from the Baron but I do not think it was mine so it does not have any functionality for the other set of pedals, at least they don't work at the moment. The Baron has both sets working at once but also has the second seat useable but I have tried various times to rename that java and failed in that some areas would not function.

Now, in the past I know I have added second cockpits for the observer on some of the biplanes Gio made so I will take a look and see what I can remember by looking through their workings and see if I can get the second seat and controls running.

Failing that I could possibly try renaming the second set of controls so they run using the existing java by just renaming the meshes as at the moment they use the same for each set.

I retired from all this lunacy once, I blame Alex for encouraging me back to do his slots that I never quite seem to finish off, I now have to remember everything I forgot and at the same time the pain in my limbs makes it a very frustrating and slow process.

Anyway, I have started now, it can only go further downhill. :D

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Looks like you're falling into the rabbit hole of modding Pete  :))

Yes, I am so far in I think I got to somewhere near the centre of the earth already, I might pop out the other end soon. :D

I managed to attach the other set of pedals to what I already had working:

I took the arms off to make them look more like the real Cessna but they swing too much for my liking so
back on they went as that looked better to me. o_O

The real ones do actually slide along a rail and also have the brake incorporated so you need your feet at the
base for steering as the front wheel is linked rather than being a castoring unit and you then move them up a
bit to press forward for the brakes! Too much coordination there for me but that is what the video said.

I decided to look through other things in the sim and much of the Russian types have pedals that are close to
what I wanted but eventually I settled on the A-20 because it also has the American instruments. I used the
dumped cockpit class and the extracted cockpit to test it with the Cessna but down the rabbit hole we go and
the fingers started to pain so it was left alone last night for another time where I can find the will to have another
go at it.

Every time I attempt this I fail, this is at least the fourth attempt, I was hoping to make something generic that
might aslo come in handy for other things like the Turbo Porter or other modern aircraft with a similar layout but so
far any end in sight is a long way away sorry to say. :(

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D
