Hi everybody
The Imperial Japanese navy's Junyo and Hiyo were aircraft carriers converted from ocean liners. These sister ships participated in numerous high profile Pacific theatre operations:
Aleutian islands campaign, Solomon islands campaign, Battle of the Santa Cruz islands, Operation I-GO, New Guinea campaign, Aircraft delivery sorties, Battle of the Philippine Sea and Siege of the Inland sea.
Hiyo was sunk in action (June 1944) whilst Junyo survived the war.
I believe these two ships would add so much enrichment to PTO missions as they are rather recognisable and highly storied vessels.
If anyone would be able to bring these ships into the game as scratch built and correctly proportioned models (God forbid another Shokaku repaint) I, and many other PTO enthusiasts, would be highly grateful for your service.
These shipbucket images will be of assistance.
I think that the 1942 and 1943 grey versions would be the most used. Both ships were still painted grey at the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944.
