Freebies planes for another flight sim available
« on: March 02, 2023, 05:19:47 AM »

These planes for the game " Prepare3D "  are now available as freebies !
Could they be imported in IL-2 1946   ?

This has been said before but as you have obviously missed it ….

The guys who have the required skills to import 3D models into this game … and yes I am one of them,… are also clever enough to know where to source those models. They are very aware of any copyright or intellectual property infringements … and also do not normally respond to these gimme requests. However, thank you for your input. I am sure it will receive the consideration it may or may not deserve.

I am sorry if I did something wrong .
I have seen the word " freebie " ,so I did imagine that there was no copyright issue ...

I apologize to be a noob ...

And I apologise if I sounded a little condescending. The problem with adapting models from other sims (free or not) is that they are often either too complex or too simple to meet the visual or physical requirements of this game. In order to become a functional part of the game a significant amount of rework is still required to isolate and animate control surfaces etc, create the necessary coding and so on that it is often easier to start from scratch. Please believe me when I say that we know where to source appropriate models but have only limited free time to dedicate to this hobby. Given how involved the process I am surprised that so many different aircraft have actually been added over the years. This has all been explained many times before …. It just needs to be re-iterated to each new generation of players.

And if there is a new generation of players in 2023, that means all that hard work of the modding community was not in vain.  ]thumleft[

Precisely!  I agree with you.  With the new generation people coming here, it is what will expand the SAS mods into bigger mods with longer life.

It is just a shame that most of them never take the time to learn how to make a more useful contribution to the community, beyond the usual wikki style requests  that show up in this thread.
