Venator there are plenty of tools available to convert TGA in BMP. I personally use GIMP but Paint or PS and even specifically dedicated tools available at FM site. A quick search and maybe ten minutes of practice will enable you have the old skins you like. you can get a quick info on the conversion here

Sweet!  Today I finally figured out how to take those pesky TGBs and convert them into BMPs in IL-2 using IMF viewer and GIMP.  Took a bit of research but finally I can do it!  Keep up your good work on skins, outstanding stuff.
