Hi genXgamer
Don't remember exactly where I got Animated2 Folder so I've uploaded it to my mediafire account.
May be I'm not allowed to do such a thing but I really don't care if it can help you.
https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/zhukih8k92f4uaz/Animated2.zip/file
Download and Unzip into your <tex folder/Water>
Then open your load.ini file and replace the following lines under [Appendix] :

WaterNoise = water/PAC_WaterNoise.tga
WaterNoiseAnimStart = <Your tex folder>/WATER/Animated2/PAC_waternoise00.tga

This should solve your problem

Aaaahhhhh... If we can load a desired folder of water textures with a map and not have to restart the game, that would be wizard!

If only the same could be done for the cumulus clouds.

Thanks so much Chrival

I will do so eagerly and see what happens, my theory is that the noise texture is predominately black with white lines.
The white lines in the water show up as brown lines, so making the texture white the water should be brown (that's the theory).

I don't even know if I need to do this now as I've demonstrated above that I can achieve discoloured water without altering the noise texture.
The plus side of this is shallow water on other parts of the map still has the noise pattern effect.

Once again thanks for providing assistance.

Hi Glenn

To answer your question, the shallow water is right on the cusp of disappearing hence the ground texture comes through.
I remembered agracier had a post about making a marsh, so last night I looked it up to compare his findings to mine.

A number of things were different, after all he was trying to create a marsh and I'm trying to create a map with blue oceans and brown rivers.
The thing we both had in common was a RGB value of around 120 on the map_c.

I'm going to try some of agracier's findings, as swamps and marshlands would be another great inclusion.

Nice I was wondering if some of this work on shallow water could also be used to improve the paddy (rice) field textures so important for the Asia-pacific maps

G'day Chrival

Sorry to be a pain but I don't have the PAC_WaterNoise.tga in my install.
Are you able to provide this file to me?

I wish to add it to my mapbuilder (VP Modpack).

It seems B.A.T. has this file because it worked when I added the entries to the load.ini, but like most map stuff it does not dump.

I was pointing out my joy at considering the possibility of having any map's load.ini file reference any set of animated water textures one would care to specify. Imagine having a set of several folders of the animated water textures. One could have textures of a more placid aspect, for use in regions where winds are generally weak even during bad weather. Another set of textures could incorporate increased wave height, as found in places like the north Atlantic. And so on, within the limitations of what can be achieved via this method of creating a water surface.

Well there's no doubt I have brown water now!
Certainly could be dialed down.

Shane,
I looked at my animated folder, and see that the PAC_Waternoise variants of the textures look identical to the others, right down to having the same 2012 date/time stamp. I'll have to look deeper to find the source; it's been years since doing any playing around with this end of the water world.  ;)

Well. I see. Would be cool, indeed. So much features would be cool to improve map making  ;)

Hey Frankiek, something like this?   Of course a bit better scaled and without the watermarks.
