Dear community,

I have posted in Guru3d forum this issues for AMD users (see link below).

There is some unofficial drivers (R.ID) but I am afraid to use them and corrupt my system.

The only solution I found to remove strange clouds and ground is conf.ini lines below
TypeClouds=0
TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=1

Impossible to have perfect mode (hardwareshaders=1)
But better than nothing.....:(:(:(: :(

"Crazily6857": would you please provide your sources concerning AMD driver in 2024 which reintegrate old openGL instructions present in 22.5.1 driver which worked perfectly with our beloved sim IL2 1946 ????
You indeed told me that in a private message on Guru3d but I am very sceptical....

Both - cloud corruption and ability to activate Hardware shaders=1 is going to be fixed in AMD's driver in the first quarter of 2024.

The problem with your statement is that I do not believe everything I read on the internet and just saying "trust me bro" isn't enough to convince me. Unless you can provide actual evidence from AMD about said driver updates, I am going to keep holding that large grain of salt I have about your statement.

Hopefully they really release a AMD driver update at the start of 2024 to fix the OpenGL (and Hardware shaders) isues the RX 7000 cards have, but these settings look good aso in combination with the AMD Adrenalin Controll Panel settings adjusted for the game.

Please note the [sound] section of the Conf.ini is set for Surround and Wide speaker placement, if you got a diferent sound setup you need to change those settings.

How did you adjust the AMD Adrenaline Control Panel settings for Il-2?

Mine is in Dutch so i might "translate" some things incorrect as I dont know what they say in English but I start from the top.

Settings I dont mention should be left at default.

All the way on the top sellect "Games" than select the "IL-2 FB" icon/profile. (if its not there click the 3 dots on the right and add the game manualy by going to the il2fb.exe)

Than sellect:
"Radeon-image sharpening" to "Enabled" and set the Slider to "100"
"Radeon Enhanced Sync" to "Enabled"

Click on "Advanced" so te menu bellow apears.

"Anti-Aliasing" to "Override Application Settings" and set it to "8xEQ"
"Anti-Aliasing Method" to "Super-Sampling"
"Morphological Anti-Aliasing" to "Enabled"
"Anisotropic-Filtering" to "Enabled" and set it to "16x"
"Texture Filter Quality" to "High"
"OpenGL Tripple Buffering" to "Enabled"

Thats how I got it, in combination with the Conf.ini I posted before.

I just tried this combo out and I have to thank you. My game looks so beautiful now! The clouds render nice and far and the lighting is great, with the image now looking super crisp. Thank you!

I just tried this combo out and I have to thank you. My game looks so beautiful now! The clouds render nice and far and the lighting is great, with the image now looking super crisp. Thank you!

On some maps the ground looks far more detailed, almost like the game uses Tessellation (wich it doesnt), especaily on some half sandy terains like you see on mediterranean maps.

No, i tested it, but i am not convinced its just OpenGL, i think some things are more hardwareshader related, as under DirectX hardwareshaders=1 also turns to hardwareshaders=0
But the new driver did seem to change somethings, runways looked worse (no details) and the Spikey clouds remained.
