Very nice way to convert tgb to tga... much (MUCH) faster than the IMF viewer conversion process.  A few steps in GIMP (like removing Alpha/Damage channel) and you can turn that TGA into a BMP skin.  Just did it with the original Default Skin of the A5M4... (using the executable)

Didn't know BMPs are a thing for a skinner.
If this helps, I could add a straight conversion to BMP to the tool as well.
Just in case: BMPs can ship with or without alpha channel (32/24 bit). Would it make sense to keep the alpha channel (if there is any), or should it be removed, or should this be selectable?
Sorry for asking so many questions, but I ain't no skinner so I simply don't know.
The reason for me to create this tool was rather a 3D modding process issue than a skinning one ;)

Would of thought TGA to BMP to have limited use.
Doesn't mean it couldn't be included, UberDemon has found a use for it.
I convert BMP to TGA much more frequently, giving taxiing and wrecked aircraft appropriate skins.

To answer one of your questions, no alpha channel.

As much as possible i prefere to use 8 bit textures however many people like the 24 bit with alpha channel so having the option is a good idea

BMP is easier when you are still working (like myself) with the old Jasc PSP that does not smoothly manage the tga format.  I use to convert BMP to tga with alpha channel in fast and easy using DXTBMP, an old CFS2/MSFS utility.

The new IMF converter is a blessing when working with original parts of Il2 plane - the viewIMF was really a pain.
