It was one of the reasons why I gave up on the so-called "full real" settings many years ago. With eyes not getting younger, it was less and less fun. In multiplay, I switched to aircraft with a gunner or chose a server with icons.
For the offline play, we can change the settings in the 'icons' file in the folder 'users'.

If you are flying off-line, what about a wingman? These young AI boys look for your enemies and inform you in timeā€¦

Here's my solution to making HUD icons feel less like 'cheating'; go to this topic to download it:

I trust that you restarted the game after making the change...  ;)

What screen resolution are you running? If different to the values already present in the .font file, did you add a new line?

If you're using a mod such as NG_HUD, is this mod sitting above it?

Yeah, I've done all of that, I edited the files in question and I've also put your files into my mods folder. I have added an extra line for my display which is 3840, still nothing. I am not using any HUD mods.

Can you present a screenshot of Windows Explorer showing where my mod folder is among your other mods in folder #WAW3?

Based on that, it seems things should work... I'm at a loss as to what is going on.

At a minimum, you should be seeing the icon font as smaller than before. To confirm just this aspect, is your font size remaining at the same size as previously?

I see you have NG-HUD available. Can you look inside that mod's font folder and compare the contents of its files with the contents of mine shared in common?

That folder was actually empty for some reason, I also have visiadmod9, I went into that folder and changed the Font files to yours. Still nothing, I also moved it out my mods folder to completely disable it and that also took no effect. I'm super confused as to why.

Is it because I am not activating the rcu right in the console? when I am in game i press Shift + tab, then press A which seems to activate the rcu commands but that also takes no effect.

The purpose of the camouflage is to hide the plane .
Your noticing proves that IL2 1946 is a realistic flight simulator .

Not really, the movent of an object would be easy to see even with a dark green camo over some trees.

In IL2, basically, the green camo will stay only 1 color, and the trees will stay 1 color.

In real life you have a moving object with changing lighting somewhat going across stationary trees, the movement would make it easier to pick out if you were looking in its direction.

Also, in real life you can see aircraft way farther away than in IL2.  Planes that are barely visible in real life, like a pixel in IL2, you can still pick out color schemes, like a red tail or something.  If you work in aviation where you have to see what aircraft are coming in it becomes normal.

It would work best if the pixel in IL2 would have a twinkle effect between light and dark shade.  Otherwise they should be a lot more contrasting to the terrain.  Like green should be a lighter green as 1 pixel.

Wingwalker;

totally agree, one of the things you immediately learn in "cam and concealment" in the Army is that movement is very counterproductive to 'not being seen'.  Now I'm thinking of the Monty Python skit "How not to be seen"  LOL   ;)
