Problems with default skins

As per the title, I don't understand how and where these default skins came from, when before the appropriate nation skins were clearly visible. as in the image you can see that the country is Russia, while the skin is Chinese.😑 this is very annoying especially when flying on a front like the one in Stalingrad. seeing I-16 with Chinese livery... it's a punch in the eye and also in the stomach... I also tried to modify the skindefault folder but without success it seems that they are installed via SFS, or at least I think... and I can't help it to change it.🤦🏻‍♂️

Not confirmed for the latest BAT.

You must be using a folder inside WAW that overwrites the stock Default.

which version of the game do you use and is this happening in every map?

Hi guys and thanks for replying like this in the blink of an eye. The version I'm using is B.A.T. v4.2.2 Flashpoint. However, I carefully checked as Frankiek suggested, the problem appears on the CBI_BurmaLower_1942 map, if Russia is selected as the country on this map, the Chinese livery will appear on the I-16, while doing the opposite, i.e. selecting the country China, on the aircraft appears in Russian livery. Rearranging everything with the Skinmod folder, I noticed that unfortunately there are no changes for this map...

Because the Maptype is CBI

like for desert a different than Summer folder will be called

Use Dump Mode,
select a ETO Map and type 18 USSR and Uganda,
you should end up with
3DO/Plane/I-16type18/summer (Russia)
3DO/Plane/I-16type18(Multi1)/summer (Uganda)


I did the following simply added the CBI to Multi1, hence when selecting China it comes up on Skin.
In Russian CBI folder simply drop the content from Summer folder.
select Burma Lower Map
3DO/Plane/I-16type18/cbi (Russia with Chinese Skin)*

replace the content with stuff from here
3DO/Plane/I-16type18/summer (Russia Stars)
=
3DO/Plane/I-16type18/cbi (Russia Stars)

* to be dropped into Multi1
How to get China Skin correctly
3DO/Plane/I-16type18(Multi1)/cbi (Uganda)

must take the chinese counterpart of Defaultskin to have it the desired way.
It's simply Default Skins and whatever is for dislike, simply use dump, select through options, and see why it's this way,
if not correct, mod yourself.

That's a feature since DBW/TFM-412, good luck fiddling.

in a nutshell:
up to version 4.09 you had only three possibility for the default skin folder: summer, winter and desert. Desert included not only the real desert maps but also several PTO maps. So it will be the map type that defines the default skin folder to be used.
In 4.10 additional default skin folders have been added linked to theatre of operations. So in addition to Desert you have Pacific, ETO, MTO and CBI. again depending on maps a different default folder can be used.
In version 4.12 conditional skin folders have been introduced here the map is not important (or also important) but in the class file you wll have something that say if country Fr then use default skin Fr_summer thus multiplying the possibilities.

In your case  it is very clear as Soviet Union didn't had combat operation in CBI however in  the Sino-Japanese conflict there were soviet units (with soviet pilots and support personnel) fighting for china and using the I-16 this is why if you choose Soviet Union as a country and use the plane in CBI a Chinese livery will be the default. You need to think all this in term of Dgen or realistic campaigns. So if you really want to have a Russian unit to fly over any CBI map using a proper Russian default skin you need to change it as suggested by Tobias.
