Mr. Resistance, you do realise that this Flight simulation is a few years older than you do you?
It is only due to the dedication and skill of the talented Modders, mission and campaign builders in this community that you are (hopefully) enjoying this Sim today.
As to your comment in the 'Chat Room' "I get the feeling that most of the people on this site are old people (No offence)" this is true of a Sim first marketed in 2000, (I still have my original demo disc collected from a flight sim exhibition in Birmingham England) and genre that has been around since the late 1990's for online play. You have of course missed the peak of it's popularity in the mid-2k's when one would sit waiting for a vacant slot of 1000 places available on Hyperlobby. Low numbers I know compared to those seen on War Thunder and the 'World of' series.
Our oldest squadron member (Chuffy's Flying Circus) was still 'flying' with us in his 90's. He had flown F-86's in the 1950's and many of our members had been or were active pilots, both civilian or military. In a previous virtual Squadron playing 'European Air War' previous to IL2 we even had a chap who had flown P-38s in the Pacific in 1945!
Sadly we are beginning to see the demise of members due to age and/or health problems here. 4, including the gentleman in his 90's I mention here, in the last year or so.
I've just turned 74, not 'flying' at present as I occupy myself sitting on the bench of my Worcestershire village green with m'dogs, plucking at sleeves of passers by and screeching: "I'm the oldest resident y'know! Still got all me own teeth!"
........Now, what did I come in here for?
