Its sooo good - thank you!
« on: March 24, 2024, 03:42:06 AM »

Guys,

im playing combat flight sims since around 30 years.
Been through all of them from European Air War over Microsoft CFS over Sturmovik (from first to 1946), the "new" Sturmovik, even DCS, Wings over Flanders etc.

But, 1946 + BAT beats them all. The amount of scenarios, aircraft, not the hardcore realisem but the immersion, these great campaigns (thanks to all mission and campaign builders) - it is soo good.
Yesterday, within one of Montys Battle of Britain campaigns, in a flight of hurricanes vs a group of Do-17 with BF110's, convoy ships exploding, Flak explosiions everywhere, dogfights whereever you look. Reasonable air maneuvers, radio possibilities...this is how i imagine how it felt somehow back then.

A big big big big big big thank you to everyone who contributed to this masterpiece, to keep it alive and so much fun for WW2 aviation fans like me!

Just to tell.

Yes !!

From the same perspective as you, I prefer IL-2 1946 to CloD and IL-2 GB.

BAT is great. For me, it's like an encyclopedia of the XX century aviation - the one you can "animate" and play with it.
And if you like BAT, I recommend also trying Ultrapack for two reasons:
1. It was made for multiplay.
2. It has almost everything for the period 1930-1950s and at the same time, it's less demanding for the hardware. If you have one hundred bombers in the sky, your FPS count will be much higher in Ultrapack than in BAT.

I've been playing combat flight sims since I bought my first PC in 1991. I too have to say that nothing has ever equalled Il-2 1946 + BAT. The graphics may be a little dated in parts but we all know there is more to a flight sim than the graphics alone. I play BAT most days and have no plans to change. I cannot adequately thank all those who made this possible by their inspiration and hard work.

My first "flight sim" was on this "computer". Somewhere in 1985, I guess.

If you ask me how it was possible... A dark magic of early programming languages.
Just as an example.

BAT really kicks the ass of Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe and Aces of the Pacific.
