Browning 303 rear gun required.
« on: April 12, 2024, 05:08:28 PM »

Hi guys

Does anyone know of an imported aircraft that has a good modelled Browning 303 rear gun.
I have changed the Beaufighter's Vickers GO gun to the one from the imported Wirraway, however these were field mods and Browning guns are more correct.

As a matter of fact the Il2 core Breda Safat 7.7 looks almost identical to the Browning 0.303

Thanks mate, I'll take a look.
In the meantime I found an even better modelled Vickers, just have to work out how to mount it.
I have the gun mounting exactly positioned where I want it (disregard the turret framing) but the gun doesn't quite fit through that small opening, I'll just have to get creative.

Anyway just one of a few side projects, main priority is finishing my mission first.

No surprise as the Breda 7.7 (and 12.7) was derived from the Browning M2 with the main difference being the adaptation for the use of Italian 7.7 (and 12.7) bullets instead of the original .303 and .05

If you need a specific observer/turret gun from the interwar/early ww2 period - British, French, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Italian, Russian or American (German and Japanese are yet to be completed) - just ask and I'll export the mesh for you, if I have not yet exported it.
All are historically correct and mapped but some need to have a good skin done (I am not a good skinner).

If someone volunteers to make skins this would be a nice pack to upload ;)
Here are some of them:

Quite a collection mate!
I can see them being utilised by those who add high poly imported aircrews to their aircraft.
I find it a little strange seeing these highly detailed aircrew models and then they're holding a blocky low poly machine gun.

All these are low polys....
The high polys is in fact un-necessary in Il2. At most a mesh can be separated in two sub meshes.
The high polys models are models that have been imported without taking the pain of reworking them from Warthunder, World of Aircraft or other games.

I would agree a proper model with a nice cockpit and proper skin makes wonders...
