Hawker Fury Landing on Carrier
« on: April 30, 2024, 07:51:14 AM »

Does anyone have an expertise on the best technique for landing the Hawker Fury (1947) on a carrier?

Every time I hit the deck the tail bounces and it busts the prop on the deck. I've attempted different landing speeds and approaches but the Fury has a very high stalling speed so its impossible to bring it in gently.

Does anyone have any tips/advise?

Thanks

This might sound odd, but have you lowered the arresting hook?

Try setting the carrier speed to a realistic but high value…. Set a good wind speed and turn the carrier into it (as in real life). Don’t drop onto the deck… aim to skim it and catch the wire. I can assure you it takes practice but it is possible.

I usually set the carrier to 50 km/h, flaps in combat configuration (don't lower the flaps to full landing configuration unless you can bring it in just above stall speed) and landing speed 180 kp/h.
