That's great! I would assume, this map_c also will fix this in the old map :)

You are absolutely right, the map_c file is retrocompatibile with the original map, given that you are using the updated one from gio.

I'm testing the map and seeing how my PC handles the increased level of ground objects. Up to now it runs pretty well.

Here is the new version with updated airfields and map_c file.

Now Pic time:

Fighting in the skies of the Piave during the Battaglia del Solstizio, 15 June 1918.

Istrana Airfield, the homebase of the 91esima Squadriglia "degli Assi".

An ex-italian airfield on the east bank of the Piave river, now in austro-hungarian hands.

FliK 41 Airfield, based on the version provided by Vampire Pilot.

FliK 42 Airfield, same as above.

Hi,

I have some references regarding Austro-Hungarian airfields and strips on the Slovenian territory which was under Austro-Hungarian rule. Located on the most western part of the map
there were several airfelds and strips.

Airfield Gorica (Gorizia), sector AZ 9

Gorica Airport was the first military airport on Slovenian soil.

The Austrians started building the airport in 1911, in the area of the then training ground of the 5th Dragoon Regiment, i.e. on the road to Mirno. The location was not accidental, as Gorica was an extremely strategic city on the border with the Kingdom of Italy. The terrain and wind conditions were favorable, as the Rusjan brothers, who flew a little further south, towards Peča, had also tried them a little earlier (1909).

In 1912, hundreds of flights were already carried out at the Gorizia airport. By 1914, four hangars and a command barracks were built at the airport. During this period, Flugpark 3 and Fliegeretappenkompagnie 4 operated at the mentioned location.

With the Italian declaration of war, the airfield was abandoned, as Fliegeretappenkompagnie 4 had already left the location. Knowledge of the terrain near the Gorizia bridgehead was key to setting up defenses along the Soča river and also setting up other airfields in the rear of the Soča front.

The Italian military and civil airport Amadeo Duca D'Aosta Aeroporto Duca D'Aosta di Gorizia was later built on an almost identical site.

There was also airfiled few kilometers to the west, airfield Ajsevica which was one of the biggest airfield for the Austro-Hungarian forces used in the WW1 in this sector. AZ 9/BA 9.

The track was built between January and March 1915, i.e. before the start of the war with Italy. Today, there is a dog range in the middle of the track.
2nd track
Due to the cramped conditions, in July 1915 a track was built in the area of Livešč, between the road to Šmihel and the bed of the Lijaka stream.
3rd track
Due to the ever-increasing number of hangars that the Austrians were putting up in the direction of Ozeljano, in the same year they built a third track between the road behind Šmihel and Ozeljano. Today it is a paraglider landing site.
4th lane
In 1916, hangars and a track were built south of Ozeljano or In Otave.
5th lane
In the spring of 1916, they began to build buildings between the stream Lijak and the road near the Three Houses. The track and associated facilities were used until the fall of Gorica in August 1916. The Ajševica airport system was the largest such system on Slovenian soil during the First World War. It included five runways and more than 60 buildings, hangars, workshops, warehouses and other auxiliary facilities. The greatest concentration of aircraft was in this area in the period between May 1915 and August 1916, mainly due to favorable weather conditions. Ajševica belongs to the moderate bore area. The line of moderate storm runs between Črniče and Dornberk. After the fall of Gorica, within a few weeks, all the infrastructure was moved to Ajdovščina, Vipava, Šentvid (Podnanos) and Podraga.

Today, the sports airport is in the same location as during the First World War, except that it has been extended in the direction of the village of Cesta.

There were several more strips, maybe I can find some links when I have some more time.
I hope this is a bit of a help.

Best regards, Jure
