DCG help with a stationary ship to be deleted or destroyed
« on: July 23, 2024, 11:01:31 AM »

Hi mates!

I posted an help request also on Paul DCG site but not yet got any tips....

Actually I'm working on the timetable for a Siege of Malta campaign....

I have the need to add and than delete (if not sunk within 23 January) the Illustrious CV in Valletta harbour....

The command to add her is 19410111 AddStatic 99_Static ships.Ship$HMSIllustriousCV 1 65165.74 76951.58 590.00 0.0 0 2 1.0

BUT I need to understand if a command (something like 'DeleteStatic' for example) to delete an object exist (far possibility as not present in examples) or if I could use a shortcut to delete her....

ATM I have tested these shortcuts without success:

Add a blue stationary seamine in the same spot....the seamine doesn't explode
Add a blue sub/ship in the same coordinates...the new ships simply are 'inside' the CV

Any suggestion to test please?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If I remember correctly you can 'delete' an object within your columns.dcg file by adding a ~X at the end of the line.  It's been a long time but there's also ~L  and ~A which can be added but I forget what those commands do.

So at the appropriate time in your campaign you could add the ~X to the HMS Illustrious line in your columns.dcg and it will not be considered when the next mission is generated.  I'm not sure if that can be incorporated into your timetable or not.

Hi mate!

Thanks for your help!

I have checked in my notes how these work and for what....

The flag ~ syntax work only for AddColumns with ~L when deployed , ~X when not deployed....

Adding stationary is managed differently....and seem that a command doesn't exist....

So I need to find a shortcut to have the stationary carrier Illustrious removed....

well you can try to use the normal moving ship version with minimal movement so that it will basically act as a static one with the advantage that you can remove it

Just had a thought;  check the Command and Control objects (assuming you have that mod (it's built-in to BAT)).  I believe one of the objects or triggers will remove objects but again, not sure if it applies to static.

Walter, in the DCG “Ground Object Editor” there is a box under “Stationary Object Settings” where you can select whether a static object should be active or not!
But don't forget, your changes will only be active from the next mission generated!
And I think there is no timetable command for this option!

That's an interesting option!

I have to verify and , if working , add a day message to act this way....
