BAT Multiplayer hints and tips?

Yes, I do remember that BAT was not designed for multiplay  :-|

I decided to experiment with the creation of multiplay missions for BAT and immediately ran into some problems.
What is done in FMB is not what appears in MP.
For example, two home bases are created. Each for one country only and with 6 aircraft.
When this mission is open in MP, there is just one base on the map, all countries are available, and only 1 a/c of 6 is present in the menu. I suspect that this is caused by the change of the default parameters of the home base. Or else.

It would be good if experienced multiplayer mission creators provided some advice. Any hints and tips?

In the meantime, continue my experiments...

Perhaps does the sub-category of BAT matter ?
Did you make the mission in WAV , or JTW , of DOF ?

I made a dogfight mission in JTW , and it works well .
There are 2 home bases , each set with planes limitations and country limitations .

I'm getting closer to finding the reason for the "country bug". Probably, it is a Su-25 with some particular (unknown yet) type of loadout.
What happens:
1. Two home bases A and B are created in FMB. Same colour, same country (only one country).
2. Enable aircraft limitations at both bases.
3. Remove all aircraft and make only Su-25 available at both bases.

Open the mission in Multiplay.
No problem yet. Everything as it was designed in FMB.

5. Modify Su-25 at base A and select some loadouts.
Open the mission in Multiplay...
Still good.

6. Modify Su-25 at base B and select some loadouts.
Open the mission in Multiplay...
Base B turns to a multi-country one. That means when you select this base and click Arming, all countries appear in the Air Force drop list. But there should be just one  o_O

The next step would be to isolate this type of loadout. And check it with other aircraft. I hope it's not some random combination.

You are probably right .
There are 136 loadout combinations , it will take a long time to test them all...

OK. I found something interesting and (hopefully) the cure.

Let me repeat what bugs features I have discovered in BAT JTW Multiplay.

When two home bases are created and aircraft and loadout limitations are enabled, the following can happen when the mission is opened in Multiplay:
1. One base disappears.
2. The selection of aircraft types on one base is reduced. Sometimes, to just one.
3. Your selection of countries on one base is ignored. All countries appear in the "Airforce" drop list.

While trying to find the reason, I noticed that problems appear when certain loadouts are chosen for some aircraft.
I tried to find and isolate the bug on the test map with two bases and just one a/c type Su-25 on both.
It was great fun. Many combinations, click-click-click... my head was spinning.
I managed to find "safe" loadouts for Su-25 but not the "bugged" ones.

A few cups of something later...

I was ready to give up when I became enlightened. I removed all loadouts from the "Selected loadouts" pane.
In other words:
FMB - select the Home base - View - Object - Aircraft - select the aircraft - Modify - Remove All.
Make sure that left pane Selected loadouts is empty.
Save the mission. Go to Multiplay. No more bugs!

It was simple, stupid...but counter-intuitive for me since I had a habit of limiting loadouts.

I tried this method in the missions on other maps with several various a/c and it worked.

In a nutshell:
Do NOT select any loadouts in BAT JTW Multiplay. Leave it like that:



Yes, it complicates the player's choice since some aeroplanes have an insane choice of weaponry, dozens and even over 100. Yes, it makes some missions less interesting.
I'm afraid, it is what it is for the time being.

Footnote:
- I have a suspicion that there are many aircraft that are immune to this bug. Maybe those with a very short list of loadout, as An-26. Maybe some choppers.
- The safe loadouts for Su-25 were Default, Empty, first 4 lines after Default and the group starting with 4xKh-25MR.
- I tested JTW only. Maybe I'll try other eras later. "Two weeks, be sure".

I've had this problem.

I kind of make a "single mission" but as "multiplayer" so I can re-spawn for different mission areas after I go down.

I've noticed if its a complex map that I have been working on and redoing things on for a while the "home bases" wont show up sometimes when I run it.

I think you need to set the homebases last, after you have build and re modified your missions trying to get things like you want (i have to do this like 100 times for a complex mission).

Also, I noticed there are problems with Triggers being on there, if you have them try it without once...

If your Homebases' size or "diameters" are overlapping, or even if they are at the MAX diameter, I have had problems with those bases showing up too when I run it.
