I'm trying it out in "Quick Mission," and it says that it won't work unless the enemy aircraft gets within range of the side gun turrets.

If that's the case, I think the current version is fine.

When I tried the same thing with G4M1_11, the side gun turrets were silent.

I'm Japanese. I use Google Translate, but sometimes subtle nuances aren't conveyed.

This is a common problem that we can define as nested mods. You need to have the N1K2 to be able to use the G8N1. 
In my trove I was able to find the  3bladedjap.tga so I preferred to fix it using the following entry

Hi vampire pilots again highly appreciate your work with this G8N Renzo aircraft for the Japanese Forces had similar brothers such as the G5N shinden, and the G6N which were also used against China from 1942 to 1944  :-| :)
