I did some thinking today about how to move about adding the QMB functionality, and decided on a more practical approach that will not take me away from the main UQMG task.
It will be a really lengthy process to implement full QMB/QMBPro functionality, especially if you want the different types of missions. So this is going to be the approach I take:
* I will remove the QMB/QMBPro function from the Template Builder. Since the process is the same for creating a UQMG template for Template Builder as it would be to use Template Builder for QMB, then it makes sense to just stick with UQMG, as it is a much more powerful mission generator than the rather static QMB.
* I will include UQMG mission scripts that will give you the desired results for QMB template missions that you load in UQMG then generate the file after you pick the map and the desired ground features in the sector picker. Once the mission is created, you will be able to place it in the desired directory, and play it in QMB. This means that most types of mission can be generated with multiple version.
* I will include a full QMB new map with UQMG as well.
* The advantages are many.
- You can use any UQMG enabled map to generate QMB missions, including any Template Builder created template
- Because UQMG templates have 24 total flight groups, that is 12 red and 12 blue, you can have varied arrangements:
-- For QMB8, you can use Red and Blue flight groups 1-4, or 5-8, or 8-12, for varied types of QMB Templates
-- For QMB16, you can use Red and Blue flight groups 1-8, or 5-12
- You could technically use any combination of flights but for large maps it makes more sense to use the 2 to 4 flight groupings per sector
- You could even create 12 different versions templates using 1 flight group with clones...
Keep in mind you have some many options you could create much more interesting variations.
I'll create a tutorial for how all this will work. Like I said, I am a team of one and the coding is fairly challenging.
Either way it should save time.
