Will home bases attach to anything else?
« on: November 21, 2024, 12:00:39 PM »

Just was wondering if there and any other ships, or other things, you can attach a home base to like a carrier, the emergency landing wires, or the test runways?

The test stripes should work! Even these ... red-area-airfields that are unvisible in the game but only in the FMB.

Carriers are an interesting question!
Try out and tell us! ;-)

They work with carriers.

Sorry I meant I know you can attach them to carriers, test runways, and the emergency landing wires.

Just was wondering about things like if there is a battleship or sea plane tender that you can also?

I've used the landing wires before, the test runways have a "thickness" to them and you can't go off them using them just as a runway.

Would be nice to just remove the wires from the emergency wires and just have it like an invisible runway that is nothing, so you can really just build a home base anywhere.

???

Just use the test runways (red areas) in combination with static planes as spawn points and you CAN build an airfield/homebase, wherever you want (maybe not in a too inclined areas).

Regarding the ships other than aircraft carriers, I don't think we can attach a home base to them.
But there is one that I'd like to try when I'm back home. That large landing vessel... what's her name, Landing Ship Dock, I guess?

I was able to attach a "takeoff" point to the USS Iowa...

Thought I do not know if there is a way to take off from the battleship, you spawn in on the deck under the crane, you can "remove chocks" but you just drop to the deck and are stuck.

Is this usable to launch from?

So as I understand a lot of battleships have the carrier property so they are cyclable in view mode (Shift and Ctrl F2), you can attach a plane to any that have it, but they start flying weirdly on top of battleship.  Some like IOWA used to have working catapults that you could launch the Kingfisher from but it has never been able to work in BAT unfortunately.  The only thing that works now is the I-400 Japanese submarine and the Seiran, and there is another Japanese hydroplane that works as well.  Can't remember which.
