Hi mate!

Thanks for your reply and tests!

About Configurable Increased Visibility Distance please (in order):

a) Specify your CPU type or single it's core speed
b) a side effect of this mod is to also enhanche shadows to show and be taken in CPU/GPU calculation....go to point c and try to set this value for 3rd test in conf.ini: Effects=0 and report....
c) test track the black death (IL2 common benchmark) about fps without mod , with mod and effect as you have usually ,  and with mod and Effect=0
d) if you have still fps issues , try the last option to start with these values:

  MaxVisualDistance = 5000 - effects
  MaxStaticVisualDistance = 4000 - objects
  MaxLongVisualDistance = 10000 - big ships
  MaxPlateVisualDistance = 16000 - runways

and start test fps in the black death track increasing each time only one distance of 1000 mt in this order:

1)   MaxVisualDistance
2)   MaxPlateVisualDistance
3)   MaxLongVisualDistance
4)   MaxStaticVisualDistance

About your tested mods:

AC water crash and depth charges with bubbles: a good mod but I don't like it so much....
Searchlight Beam and Illumination Color Mod: I had it in my old BAt 4.2.4....added into to do list
AI engine overheat mod for B.A.T. with my Effects v1.6 Mod: also in the to do list
Command&Control FX objects improvements: also in the to do list
WIP - Fighters RTB sooner: not installable because as stated in the 3rd line of his post: "NOT FOR USERS OF MY EFFECTS PACK! That will come upon release of my effects v2.0."

Hi Whiskey Sierra

I no longer have a vanilla BAT WAW 4.3.0 install, since I've extracted the original map textures and replaced them with high resolution trees, perfect water and doubled the resolution of the base V4.12.2M map textures, however I can offer a comparison of frame rates I've tested with and without the Configurable Increased Visibility Distance Mod for B.A.T. by WxTech.

I have Effects=0 in my configuration file by default.  My system is a Windows 11 x64 ARM Parallels Desktop 20 virtual machine, with a CPU count of 8 and frequency 3.20 GHz, as well as 96 GB of RAM allocated to the virtual machine from an Apple MacBook Pro M4 Max.  Screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 via an external monitor.

Two tests were run - The Black Death track and the Single P51-D mission "Hit and Run Near Chiran" - with Configurable Visibility Distance settings corresponding to WxTech's recommendation (2nd highest).

With the Configurable Increased Visibility Distance MOD deactivated (activated) these were my results:

Black Death Track   FPS Ave 30 (25) - 16.7% reduction with mod enabled

P51-D Hit and Run mission   FPS Ave 72 (48) - one-third reduction with mod enabled

The mod was definitely enabled since I could see the airfield from a farther distance in the P51-D attack mission, which is why I chose it for comparison.

I prefer to deactivate this particular mod since, at least in my installation and operating environment.

Template released:

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,73414.msg797623.html#msg797623

BAT 4.3 fixes BK.37 and NO GEAR COVERS x all Ju-87 ready:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/2iuws15031chyso/BK-37_BAT_4.3_skin_fix.7z/file

To use it as it is , simply extract in your BAT 4.3 main root....

NB) To re-enable gear cover , in #WAW simply add a - in front of the folder/s 9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded XX you need to disable;

WHILE

If you like to customize externally the sparts , you have to use JSGME....you have to extract in a temp location and:

a) cut form the temp location and paste 9_6_1_Ju87 -2- BK.37 skin fix folder in #WAW and the Paintschemes into the G-1 skin folder....

b1) cut from the temp location #WAW and paste it in BATMODS in a new folder named to remember you what it does to have all gear covers disabled/enabled at once...for example:

MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87COVER/#WAW/all the six 9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded XX folders;

(option)

b2) you can also made it to work individually for each plane type , to got this you have to add each plane variants folder individually in BATMODS to disable/enable only the specific spats you need to....or like this example:

MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87_B1-R1_COVER/#WAW/9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded B-1 & R-1
MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87_B2-R2_COVER/#WAW/9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded B-2 & R-2
MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87_D1-D3-D7_COVER/#WAW/9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded D-1 & D-3 & D-7
MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87_D5-D8-G2_COVER/#WAW/9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded D-5 & D-8 & G-2
MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87COVER_G1_/#WAW/9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded G-1
MAINROOT/BATMODS/JU87COVER_G2_RUDEL_/#WAW/9_6_1_Ju87 -1- no gear cover x upgraded G-2 of Rudel

Hi ssn637!

Thanks for your tests!

The good news is that the mod work and that the game single core resource thristy struggle to give us more distance view....

I'll keep it installed for the future because in strictly inside view it doesn't hamper too much my fps output....and moreover I'll test also if the next to be added WxTech effect pack 1.6 could give some more fps too....

Nice shoot in your avatar...USS Sturgeon....a very powerful silent service sub!

First report about (fps performance only):

WxTech's Effects Pack v1.6 for B.A.T and 4.12

plus

Configurable Increased Visibility Distance Mod for B.A.T. by WxTech

Results:

Seem that the effect pack 1.6 combined with the long distance could squeeze about 1 average fps more than without it....

(without effect pack 1.6)
2024-12-18 20:55:38 - il2fb
Frames: 5047 - Time: 155641ms - Avg: 32.427 - Min: 19 - Max: 54

(with effect pack 1.6)
2024-12-18 21:02:08 - il2fb
Frames: 5167 - Time: 155297ms - Avg: 33.272 - Min: 23 - Max: 54

BUT a test with effect pack 1.6 WITHOUT long distance mod give a very impressive difference:

(with effect pack 1.6 without long distance mod)
2024-12-18 21:11:08 - il2fb
Frames: 9245 - Time: 155500ms - Avg: 59.453 - Min: 41 - Max: 61

Wow, that's amazing!

Be advised that there are 3 potential conflicts between WxTech Effects V1.6 Class files and the BAT WAW 4.3.0 installation.  I've overwritten the originals and will conduct testing to verify everything is OK.

Edit: I can also confirm that with WxTech Effects V1.6 I witnessed a significant improvement in frame rates, with The Black Death track averaging 45 FPS compared to my original 30 FPS!

I removed the 3 conflicting BAT WAW 4.3.0 class files and replaced them with those from WxTech Effects V1.6 without issue (at least so far).

I did not install the gun classes BAT BSMU since I also have the NG Sound Mod V1.1 installed and am not sure if these conflict.

Can you specify where or what folder is the BATHEX?

I have checked and I have no such classes in my BAT and unhashing them the olny others are the stock one from 2008 and 2010....if you have dumped these classes you have simply got the older , stock , created on the day you've dumped them....

About long distance I'm checking with different distances and got (reducing) better fps....now I'll test as I wrote you one distance at time....

BATHEX is the archive I created by extracting the contents of the vanilla BAT WAW 4.3.0 installation, merging the contents ensuring the most recent files overwrote their duplicates, and then recombining the result into a new set of SFS archives.
I placed all the merged Class files into a set of 10 SFS archives with SFS Manager (compression ratio normal, packed in split SFS files of 1600 MB) and the others into similarly named archives (3DO, COD and MAPS).  This allowed me to save approximately 6 GB compared with the vanilla installation and also to easily analyze any impact of modifications to be added.

Got it...

Please test trains , in particular URSS locomotives....possible CTD but not expected....the issue should be russian locomotive and convoys with this locomotive not showing in FMB obkect selection window nor placeable in maps....

If this occur don't worry because isn't a great deal and I have a temporary shortcut if confirmed....

After I can ask help for a fix....

Confirmed

In fact, I can't add any trains to the map in FMB now (at least all of those I selected, both Soviet and German) although they are displayed in the drop-down window.

Is there a particular single mission I can try to see if I also get a CTD due to the Soviet train issue?
